Good morning with good news: Germany's surging 2026 EV sales is one example of why global gas car sales fell below 50% for first time in H1 2026! Germany, world's 5th largest auto market, saw BEV sales jump 95% in September. Plug-ins hit ~45% share. finance.yahoo.com/energy/artic... #energysky

Your filling station will close soon. Every BEV sold means less petrol sold forever. BEVs are replacing petrol itself. Without economies of scale, petrol is doomed. Filling stations close, tankers stop delivering, refineries close permanently. Your filling station will close soon.

The Amazing Mr. Blunden was a children's film in 1972. It ends with children being drugged, locked in a room, and the house set on fire. They have to be rescued and walk through the fire. By a ghost. Rescued by a ghost. Absolutely terrifying, seered 8 year old me. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Ama...

I found the exact location of this shot in Goldfinger (1964), in Muldraugh KY: maps.app.goo.gl/X6oxiCfN4Rwu... The red house, telegraph pole, and white premises are still there, as is the filling station in the distance. The white mart is replaced by Economy Suites.

Oct. 3, 1926: The Rev. Charles Coughlin begins broadcasting a Sunday radio show, “The Golden Hour,” from the Shrine of the Little Flower in Royal Oak, Mich. What begins as folksy sermons and catechism lessons will develop into one of the most popular programs in the U.S.—and one of the darkest.

The oil industry, the vehicle industry, the transport industry, the shipping industry, the military industry. So many businesses lose out if we stop burning oil. So many hands against electrification.

If we stop burning oil, we need fewer wars. Fewer wars means less tanks and bombs and planes and stuff. So the industry that makes tanks and bombs and planes and stuff gets smaller. So they don't want us to stop burning oil. That's another trillion dollar industry that's against electrification.

We're repeatedly told that asylum seekers pose a threat to the good people of our country... Reading about the threatening and violent treatment of elderly and open minded locals in Crowborough I get the impression that the real threat comes from closer to home. www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2026...

Your filling station is closing soon. BMW drops diesel as an option on its 3 series. Sales of new diesel vehicles falls fastest as BEVs replace ICEVs. So demand for the fuel will fall even faster, as new diesel engines no longer enter the market. Pumps close, your old diesel gets harder to refuel.

Fun fact: the best selling BEV in Italy over the last 12 months isn't a Tesla or a BYD. It's the Leapmotor T03 with 27k units, almost double Model 3 and Model Y combined. The incentive probably helped: up to 11,000 EUR off a car listed at 18,900 EUR. Some dealers advertised it for under 5,000 EUR.

You'll recall the Dutch artist Alice DJ. Her family was actually called DJ, but it was de Jahk or something like that. So with names like Taylor or Smith, that was their profession. But nobody knew what a Jahk was. Generations could not answer the question And are you a Jahk? until Alice came along.

Next Action is powerful for me. It removes so much fog and confusion. GTD does not make me do things, but it removes stress and that makes doing things easier. So I always carry my Word Card to write it down and cycle through my notes. GTD works with stuff like bujo. GTD integrates well because it

The key parts that helped me hugely were Next Action, and Context. When the thing requires multiple steps, that's a project, and so you break into chunks. But you drill down chunk #1 until you reach the Next Action, the very smallest step you need to move it forward. Then you can ignore the whole

Thank you. I advocate for Getting Things Done (GTD), by David Allen. It's a productivity process shaped around reducing stress. So you do stuff like making a note when you think of something, because keeping two actions on your mind creates the stress. Get it out, get it down, process it later.

It’s a mark of the corruption of our whole way of thinking about the world that trying to meet a planetary emergency is routinely described as “ideological”, while continuing to accelerate it is presented as “pragmatic” and “economic”.

A friend pointed out to me that people's "social scripts" used to come from fiction (novels, TV, movies) written by professional storytellers, and now they come from reality TV and short form video content, where the words largely come from attention-seeking amateurs. It has made us worse.
