It was a lovely evening at Milton CP, made even better by views of a Yellow-browed Warbler (found earlier by James Hutchison) - a great bird to make it 100 sp on the patch this year @cambsbirdclub.bsky.social

HELP NEEDED! There is a stranded Manx Shearwater in the West Midlands (SOLIHULL) that needs a ride back to the coast. Can anyone in that area help? Even to take it some of the way and pass on to another volunteer? Please call 01437 723193 if you can help 🙏

Different bird to the recent one at FD? Super looks a bit more bold but could just be the light

After what seems to have been a very poor autumn for them locally it was a surprise to see a Garganey at the Cambridge Research Park today - only my second patch record @cambsbirdclub.bsky.social

Can't put it better than Kevin has 😅 but would definitely recommend it Dawn, I'm sure you would enjoy it. Also Hamza's recent documentary on bird's of prey is worth a watch

Stourbridge Common in Cambridge is still attracting a nice assortment of Gulls, with 2 Mediterranean Gulls seen yesterday. Good to see that the one lingering around today is indeed different to the one on Sunday, with more white speckling on its head and a ring on the left leg.

Last week's heatwave came too soon for the Milton CP Black-headed Gull chicks, which jumped off the raft before they were ready to fly. The Common Tern chicks seemed to be more resilient to the heat and this week were making their first practice flights @cambsbirdclub.bsky.social

Very disappointing to see this continued profit-over-wildlife campaign from a major birdfood producer and seller. The RSPB/BTO guidance is very clear - do not put out seeds and peanuts between May and October. Not reduce, but stop. It is killing wild birds by the millions. #ukbirding

Especially as it is happening so early in the season, perhaps affecting any earlier nesters which wouldn't normally tolerate any extreme summer heat
