4/ On Apple Maps ads: few advertisers yet, and one client is paying roughly 11-12 cents a click. Tracking is the hard part. You can't separate paid from free clicks in analytics, so he adds a UTM to the profile URL and watches referrals.

3/ On fast leads for a new service business: open a legitimate second location (a real sublet, signage, a business license, a verified Google Business Profile). Proximity is the top factor for many local queries! One HVAC client's new office did $10K in its first month.

2/ On reviews: his research with Local Falcon across ~7M local queries found the first ~200 reviews influence rankings in local packs, Google AI Overviews, and ChatGPT. After that the gains flatten, but more reviews seem to widen the radius where a business ranks.

Local SEO isn't just the Google Business Profile anymore. @localseoguide.com walked us through what's moving local visibility across Google, ChatGPT, Apple Maps, and Reddit. A few highlights 🧵

2/ Your primary GBP category is the single most powerful lever you have for the map pack, and most businesses waste it on the generic option. If you're the only Ford dealer for 100 miles, you already rank for that. Pick the category you're actually fighting over.

Everyone has an AI-search theory. Otterly AI is actually testing them. One wild result: publishers with OpenAI licensing deals were cited by ChatGPT ~48% more often. Plus: fake brands can earn recommendations, schema may not help ChatGPT, and YouTube citations are rising.

AI-search hot take: LLMs.txt probably isn’t the hack you want it to be. Clear copy + consistent facts + accessible content + third-party consensus are harder and far more useful. 🎧 Listen to the episode with @landwehr.bsky.social + subscribe to @page2podcast.bsky.social youtu.be/ZntIGuNx29c?...

TWO QUIRKS WORTH KNOWING 1. Claude's query fan-outs are near deterministic. Same fan-out 65% of the time across users. That makes it testable. 2. And right now, Claude's fan-outs are obsessed with years. Put the year in your page titles. Claude is the most optimizable LLM on the market today.

Claude doesn't re-rank search results. It transposes Brave's top 10 directly into its answers. Rank 1-10 on Brave, and you rank in Claude. That was the biggest takeaway from Zero Click by @profound session this afternoon. My notes:
79.2% of all Claude citations come from Brave ranks 1-10

My father passed away recently. But, this isn’t a sympathy post. Thankfully, I’m extremely blessed to have a greet network of friends and acquaintences who checked in on me and sent kind words my way. But, if you’ve ever lost someone you love, the emotions come in waves.
When everything feels overwhelming, just focus on this.

1. Google's Query Fan Out means one keyword now triggers dozens of intent-based queries. Your old rank-tracking dashboard? Useless.

It put me through college. While I was in class 2 hours away, my dad picked up the jobs. Weekends? I’d come home to keep it going. But the real story isn’t about mowing lawns. That’s when I unknowingly developed a consultative approach to selling - not just transactions, but relationships.

Entrepreneurship isn’t for everyone. But for me, it started at 12-with a neon green flyer. That flyer launched my first business: a lawn maintenance company. And somehow, those first few clients-who took a chance on a 12-year-old-changed my life. Because that business?

A Code Freeze during a migration or high-traffic event can make marketers feel handcuffed. No code changes. No on-page SEO fixes. No last-minute tweaks. A code freeze is necessary to: ensure stability ✅ Prevent last-minute chaos ✅ Reduce major site issue risk ✅ (But that doesn’t mean SEO stops.)
