iiinova — where your digital self keeps evolving

I posted an update regarding Mental Health and Horror in our Discord last week but I realize that not everyone can see that, so I'm sharing what I posted here on BlueSky. I will continue to do so from here on forward.

There are little hints and storylines throughout. My recommendation is to use the cheats in the menu and go full God mode through Control. Focus on the story, atmosphere, and experience, which I think is so damn cool.

Before AW 1 or 2? Definitely before 2 but certainly after 1. There's an AW-centered DLC with Control that is very fun and creepy. The way everything connects together is so cool.

#AlanWake2 is incredible. Built upon the familiar foundations of survival horror, the game treads new territory in brilliant and charming ways while expanding, through fascinating approaches, the universe started by AW and Control. It honestly feels like the next stage of video game evolution.

My stepdad's death has been difficult to process. Complicated relationships often are. But I've been missing him lately, which is confusing and painful on its own. I wrote this before he died and I needed to share it. medium.com/@ariel.fisher.08/sunbeam…

Just a reminder that there's a fantastic collection of short stories coming 7/25 called Haunted Reels and it was curated by @davidlawsonjr.bsky.social with authors such as @breagrant.bsky.social, @crobertcargill.bsky.social, @aaronmoorhead.bsky.social, @justinhbenson.bsky.social, and many more.

A reminder that just because someone works regularly in the entertainment industry, that doesn't mean they are rich by any reasonable measure. Many writers of your favorite shows and actors in your favorite TV and films live hand to mouth. That is who we are fighting for.

Universal's massive blu-ray set of every one of their Classic Monster movies (that's 31 films - including Spanish DRACULA) is usually $149.98. Today it's reduced to a staggeringly low $69.99. That's $2.25 a film! t.co/Cgh63e5aui

PSA that it's really easy to keep copies of your work for posterity on Authory, a website I never shut up about because it's a freelance writer's dream come true in a thousand different ways. You can set it up to auto-add each new byline to your portfolio as they post.

you could easily fill a book with movies that ate absolute shit at the box office and became big moneymakers thanks to cable and rentals, prioritizing regurgitated IP over original work bc 'box office' is the equivalent of eating your seed corn

10 years ago, some friends and I ate at a local restaurant called Pacific Rim before going to the theaters for, you guessed it, Pacific Rim. We all made a pact that when the Jaeger used the ship as a weapon we would jump up and cheer. The audience was not amused but we didn't care. Love this movie.
