Truly shocked to read this story today. A journalist shot and injured by IDF forces back in October is severely injured and will almost certainly die is not allowed to leave Gaza. Israel will not let him leave without explanation and are condemning this young journalist to a slow, painful death.

Sea Hear Now 2024 was the 2nd best show I’ve ever seen BS&ESB play (9/7/16 is #1). Paul’s videos are amazing. Check out BTR, Rosie and Bobby Jean #springsteen

After 5 years of not drinking alcohol, I still find Christmas and New Year a tricky time with the never ending, ubiquitous encouragement to “have a drink. “ Then what? Dry January and hang that liver out to dry. 😂 If you are stopping it’s a hard road but well worth it. Good luck. #dryjanuary

Today was wonderful seeing a team led by a great manager, playing with guile and skill and winning through sheer team commitment. This genuinely feels like a new era for Fulham. Keep Robinson…please. This team can really achieve something special. Beating Chelsea at SB brilliant #coyw

#coyw Quite an emotional day today. Growing up in Putney I remember having to decide whether to support Chelsea or Fulham back in 64.My dad took me to both. I fell in love with Fulham. Friendly, great humour in the enclosure, and most of the fans were local then. No glories but great memories.

And what an incredible image by EPA to go with it. ~AA

Gisèle Pelicot, with her legal team and family behind her, framed perfectly by an almost Rembrandtean spiral of dozens of microphones and cameras, which somehow both emphasise her small stature and poise, while making her seem even more like a giant.

Literally crying hearing how French women applaud Gisele Pelicot every day as she walks out of court. #r4today Everywhere around the world women watch & applaud her bravery too. She stood up for all of us. Because the shame has to switch sides.

Some people I know boast of avoiding tax. Great, just don’t moan about consequences; weakened NHS, lack of dentists, crumbling schools, lack of prison places, social care in crisis. A decent society requires a tax regime that is fair and based on ability to pay. We should be proud to pay tax.

Johnny George @johnnygeorge.bsky.social · 17/12/2024

The case of Sara Sharif is horrific. Beating and torture of a ten year old. Why wasn’t the abuse noticed? Well social work has been underfunded and overstretched for decades, home schooling doesn’t have enough inspectors. If we want services we have to pay fair tax. Tax is not the enemy.

I have to give a big shout to the team I’ve supported since the age of 8; Fulham #ffc A great result at Liverpool on Saturday and another example of a smaller team upsetting the big boys. Great manager, players with talent not nurtured at other clubs, real team spirit. Always with the feel of family

These are dangerous times. Men (mainly) who crave power and money now know the template for gaining both. Feed fear, lie, besmirch opponents, control and manipulate through best available means of propaganda. Play dirty, always. The #Fightback will involve a serious rethink. #NoNamesNeeded

I have this feeling that historically the age we are living in will be viewed as socially prehistoric. Fighting wars, still following superstitious religious ideologies, as a species still unable to tame our animal instincts . There’s hope, in fact there’s hope here. From hope to action.
