I love this kind of thing, shared reinforcement of theme+mechanics. One of my favorite RPGs, 7th Sea, has a version of this where a hero can use a token to get 1 bonus die on their own roll but 3 bonus dice to aid an ally.
Heroes are stronger together. All for one, and one for all!
