100%. For those unfamiliar, Van Halen had a line in their rider that essentially said “no brown M&Ms.” It was a way to see if the promoter had actually read the contract. Speaking of video games: one thing happening in both spaces is a race to the bottom on pricing. Outside of AAAs, folks are slashing prices to try to compete in a saturated market and hoping to make the money up in volume, a strategy that usually doesn't work, but devs feel they have no alternative.

The middle is getting eaten alive in third-party D&D design. There are still lots of people self-publishing and making basically no money, and there are still opportunities for top freelancers, but it's getting harder and harder to move from the first group to the second.

Quick tip for folks selling on #itch, #ko-fi, basically anywhere online. Stripe is rolling out an AI anti-fraud tool, which will start charging you $0.05/transaction in January. They already opted you in. If you want to turn it off, you have to do so separately for each platform you use Stripe on.

TIL to go from exclusive to non-exclusive on DTRPG, you have to wait six months after informing them before they make the change on their end and let you sell elsewhere. I find it hard to believe this is legal, especially in jurisdictions with strong worker protections. Glad I never was exclusive.
