Thanks Paul, totally agree. Whilst listening to it before going to bed last night, after reading the news, I thought, 'What a bad place we're in at the moment (in the world'). But this song was sounding like a beacon of hope, an anthem for those hoping for a better future for all.

Can I say that these two albums are from Ralph Peterson are really classic(s). Excellent compositions, top playing by all and, the fact that Ralph decided to feature the clarinet makes the band very forward looking. Any who loves modern jazz a la John Carter should look these up ... straight away.

Well, I was a bit hard on the blowers, sorry. The Lighthouse record was essential listening for me for quite sometime. But, as I said I suddenly wondered what exactly I liked about it. On the other hand, I absolutely love the first Elvin trio with Joe Farrell, that's really something else.

For me all these very long solos (same applies to Sonny) were the death knell of jazz - even though I was guilty of it, too. 😔 To be honest, who understands what such solos are achieving, except musicians. Lastly, I'd be curious to hear Wiltzie and Johannsson.

Wow, how could I not give a listen to another Higham! Second(ly), I loved the Elvin Jones when it came out, but then realised it was just musical narcissism. After all, why solo for so long, and sound the same as the other soloist (Liebman/Grossman), brilliant as they are.

Yes, I think the white vans also came in dinghies. In fact now I come to think of it, I saw them quietly revving their motors before driving out to jump into boat(s). And they were definitely Iranian, I could tell because Tommo told me so!

I try to keep my olives on the tree until they started to visually ripen (end of October), simply because it was easy to see they had arrived at maturity. I guess one can also pick them earlier if wanted. www.oliveoildrops.com/index.php/20...

In that case you need to pick them when they're black, but don't let them go to far, they'll rot. I think for the rest you know what to do (place them in water, etc)?

Keep an eye on your tree and when you notice they start changing colour (more greenish black), pick them. You can pick them now if you wish I'm sure they'll be ok, but it seems a little early. However, if you prefer Black olives, you'll have to wait a bit longer (maybe end of October, or November).
