The 'My 9 Albums' posts shared on here have been intriguing. I'd be interested in the stories behind them. I haven't contributed myself, but last year did write about 52 albums that have shaped me. Perhaps you'll find some overlap in your memories here x lippykidmusic.substack.com/p/52-albums-...

52 Albums To Shape A Soul : Epilogue
When I kicked off the 52 Albums To Shape A Soul project, just over a year ago, I did so with an introduction, and now as its reached its end I feel it needs an epilogue too.

This ancient Greek figure from the 2,500 year-old Douris Cup looks uncannily like someone working on a laptop! 😲 💻 He’s actually writing with a stylus on a hinged wax writing tablet! The technology has changed, the posture has not! 😂 Altes Museum, Berlin 📷 by me
My photo shows detail from an ancient Greek red-figure kylix (drinking cup) of a young man shown in profile seated on a stool facing right. He wears a knee length cloak (himation) over his left shoulder, which is shown in folds around his waist and upper legs. His right shoulder, chest, and arms are bare. His dark hair is short, and he wears a band around his head. He is looking down at an open rectangular wax writing tablet which he is supporting in his left hand above his lap. In his right hand he holds a metal stylus pen poised over the writing tablet. The wooden writing tablet is hinged like a book and, from this angle, resembles a modern laptop. The figure is part of a scene depicting school lessons in ancient Athens, painted by Douris around 480 BC. On display at the Altes Museum in Berlin.

Just got told by a woman at the gym that I had a nice singing voice. I'd been listening to 'It's Not The End Of The World' by SFA and caught singing out loud. The embarrassment! Could have been worse. Next track on the playlist was 'The Man Don't Give A F**k' 😬.

Spent the morning catching up with the latest series of Bake Off. Its such a brilliant mirror on UK society. The addition of Nigella is a genius move too. I saw it described as a show as imagined by Richard Curtis. That's a fair description and one I'd see as a compliment. Just heart warming stuff x

Tonight's whisky pairing... I've often wondered, if you play the right music, perhaps you can hear the spirits in another realm. As Mimi's voice cuts through the distortion and static on this, I'm convinced there may be truth in such a thought. A masterpiece 🖤x
Album cover for 'Hey What' by Low lay on top of record player as record spins underneath. Glass of whisky sat to the side.

22 years ago this week, the book in the top left corner was published. There have since been 10 more, published in English across the world and translated into German, Spanish, Italian, French, Portuguese, Czech, Polish, Finnish... A lot of work/words. Grateful to anyone who has read any of them.
Two bookshelves filled with books written by me. The first 11 are the original hardback publications in English. The rest are paperbacks, foreign language and overseas editions, etc. Lying flat on the second shelf are 4 books: two proof copies and two anthologies

That's right, we're repealing Thatcher's ban on public ownership of water💧 Water companies have put sewage in our waterways, overcharged bill-payers, and left infrastructure damaged. Privatisation has meant that for too long, greedy companies have been our only option. It's time that changes.
