I've talked about the Sameer Project before—an excellent life-saving on-the-ground initiative in Gaza. Since April 2024, they've distributed nearly a quarter of a million meals alone (plus water, medical care, and shelter). But funding has dropped so much that they'll have to shut down without help.

Many many people in this country cannot recognize Islamophobia because they are swimming so deeply in it on a daily basis and have so internalized it that it isn't actually legible to them as racism. It's why it's so casually deployed in a way that other forms of racism in the country are not.

Here on the other coast we do have a local congressional candidate, a DSA guy, who is deep in the dirtbag left, and it makes me so mad because it genuinely does not have to be this way. We don't need to settle for racism and sexism in order to get a working class advocate. We just don't.
