gotta love how contemporary publishing is 30000000 beautiful, deeply felt, finely crafted books with 7.5 readers each whose authors are just barely making a living, and like 4 books that financially support the whole apparatus, each of which has comprehensively and unforgivably destroyed society

First of all, has a person ever looked more mischievous? I wish I knew her. Secondly, this is a miniature portrait from around 1660. It comes with overlays that allow you to change her appearance for fun. Filters from 500 years ago lol!
Tiny painting inside an open pendant. Portrait of a young woman, obviously very wealthy, in a fancy dress, with dark hair worn down, in ringlets. She's looking sharply off to the side, and smirking. The whole vibe is very "Mona Lisa, if Mona Lisa was the life of the party".Same painting, but now with an overlay. You can see most of her face, but she now has a dark moustache and long beard, and is wearing a thick dark cloak with a hood. The overlay this time is of a nun's habit

I love this photo. I love the cat’s position and expression, I love the textures, I love the ethereal light leaks. From my collection, no info known.
Black and white photo of a medium haired white cat riding up on its haunches, it’s forepaws slightly blurred with motion as of reaching for something out of frame above its head. It is outside on a lawn, the crunchy dark texture of the grass and hedges contrasting nicely with the light smoothness of its fur. Emerging from the lawn below it are patches of light as if something spectral is emerging from the earth (I believe this is because the film was accidentally exposed to additional light either within the camera or at some point during processing).

I know this song: it’s sobbing
women, from the book.

Holding my answer like a grenade
to cook it, for one second

too long. I squished so
many bugs to make the right

red, and once I mixed
the pigment I realized

they were the wrong kind

the true story of Radiohead’s OK Computer is that Thom had a laptop but every time he’d say “where did I put my laptop” the band would say “Thom it’s called a computer” just for a laugh, but then one day he beat them to the punch line and said “My laptop OK COMPUTER” and they all laughed. Even Ed

I see another "it is impossible to make a living writing" post making the rounds so I just want to tell you again about something the Icelandic government does. They give writers salaries to write books. Icelandic is such a small language, which makes for a very small book market ... 🧵
