The whole idea that half of the population wants fascists in charge is dumb. It’s much smaller than that they are just better at coalitions and targeting emotions.

Something I didn't appreciate about the Maryland Renaissance Faire until today is that they've been running a 30+ year real time performance of the life and wives of Henry VIII. They started with 1509 and every year the Faire bumps up another year.

Earlier this week, I agreed to interviews with two USA Today journalists. They wrote fantastic articles about the Cornell case that I'm proud to have been a part of. What I did not know is that their employer considers interviews to proprietary and opens up recordings to be used by any journalist.

Fascinating article. I’m Gen X and I approve this message about how My Generation, not the Boomers (great song tho Mr Townsend) have lived through tremendous social change. While discombobulating energy and changed relationships feed polarization, the goal remains pluralistic citizenship.

Important insight here. We need to build a much broader understanding of power and how to access and use it. I still have a lot to learn and process from my 6 years as an elected official and lifetime as a Midwestern white woman.

The invisible labor (often performed by women and marginalized folks) that keeps organizations afloat remains hidden and uncompensated. But those musing about AI's "transformation" of work have probably always benefited from this kind of labor in all parts of their life and don't see it as work.

If inequality hadn't exploded after 1979, middle-income households would be making $30,000 MORE per year. That's a second income. A paid-off car. A college fund. Instead, we're turning hobbies into side hustles just to keep up. The money didn't disappear. It went to the top.

Money given to the wealthy gets hoarded. Money given to workers gets spent. On rent. On groceries. On local businesses. On their kids. It immediately cycles back through the economy and creates more growth than any tax cut for the rich ever could. Higher wages help everyone.

Couldn't find the graph I wanted at the energy information agency, so I made one. Appears they are scraping the bottom of the barrel with the strategic petroleum reserve and may stop short of drawing down to the statutory minimum reserve due to engineering issues. www.eia.gov/dnav/pet/his...
chart showing reserves and withdrawals from the SPR. Statuatory minimum reserve is 252 million barrels. Practical engineering limit is 250-300 million barrels. Reserves as of 9/11 were 284 million barrels.
