Google finally updated some of its satellite images of Gaza and my god, it's horrific. The entirety of Rafah has been demolished. The majority of Khan Younis is in ruins. Entire towns completely leveled and erased of the map.

Huge El Niño projected to cause 450,000 deaths in next six months
New report predicts a heavy toll from Nigeria to the US – and comes on top of existing impacts of the climate crisis More than 450,000 people are projected to die from the additional heat brought by the super El Niño in the next six months, according to estimates by climate scientists. The toll is on top of the early deaths resulting from temperatures already driven up by the climate crisis. It will strike across the globe, from Indonesia to India, and Nigeria to the US. Many further deaths are expected from the droughts, wildfires and flooding that El Niños bring. Continue reading...

Irony is dead
An event flyer for London Climate Action Week, titled "Extreme heat: Improving governance and strengthening action around the world," features a background photograph of a dry, arid landscape with a road and mountains under a hazy blue sky. At the top, logos for the "Climate Resilience Alliance" and "London Climate Action Week" are visible next to a red "EVENT" tag, while the bottom of the flyer lists the event details—scheduled for 24 June from 09:30-12:00 BST at the Shaw Library, London School of Economics and online—alongside partner logos including LSE Grantham Research Institute, IFRC, Mercy Corps, and Practical Action. Stamped boldly across the center of the image in large, dark red, capitalized letters is the ironic overlay text: "CANCELLED DUE TO EXTREME HEAT."
