It really is shocking how outdated, user unfriendly and error prone software used by academic publishers is. Everything from submissions portals to copy-editing and proofing applications to journal databases is just so far behind where the technology should be and essentially not fit for purpose

Bidwell is echoing established neoliberal precedent here. In 1970, the Institute of Economic Affairs (in many ways the ASI's parent organisation) published a book on immigration w/ several papers voicing express racist views.
