I know DLSS 5 is quite a controversial piece of tech, but i feel like the potential is there for it to be quite transformative for games visuals if tuned properly. I started to mess with it by applying it to the original Dead Space and the results are really impressive.

Games beaten in 2026 #64 Quake: Dawn of the Machine Not only was it rad to get a new expansion for a 30 year old game, it's some of the best official content ever created for Quake. They do insane things with the engine and it's filled with all sorts of creative new enemies and tricks.

As much as I’d love this to be true, it’s fundamentally not how the stock market works. The stock market does not “react to customer retention” - it is very specifically focused on projected YoY growth. Existing customers are useless unless they can be converted into growth.

Dawn of The Machine is a great expansion for Quake and it's probably its most replayable. I'm currently playing my second run on Nightmare difficulty while also hunting for all the secrets and i'm having a blast.

Meanwhile simple games take off due to incidental timing and luck. Intense competition both within and without the industry make any game release a lottery. I get the desire to "make sense" of the retraction and job losses but the true reasons are so disconnected from the quality of the games.

I think Xbox will also get rid of discs. They don’t care much about a ‘leg up’ on PlayStation and haven’t for years. Both companies are actually actively competing with other streaming services and social media - Netflix, YouTube, etc., as well as digital services like Roblox.
