I interviewed for a job with an AI bot tonight. It didn’t have empathy. It asked very complex questions, and I realized half way through that I’M A G-D IDIOT! 38 years of thinking I was pretty smart, but no, I’m a straight up block of concrete. Really dense concrete. Any jobs for idiots?

My next writing project takes inspiration from the Nigel Kneale’s The Stone Tapes. This is a very specific subgenre of folk horror where technology uncovers something ancient and unknowable. For years, this film has made me obsessed w folk legends about stone, and now I’m writing my own #amwriting

I watched a double-feature, Reagan-era anxiety fest of Chopping Mall and Remote Control. Filmmakers in the late 80s really loved turning leisure spaces into tech-horror death traps before the 90s made them sites of cults and demon worship. #horror #80s #horrorfilm

I am an old hand at taking rejections with stride, but eventually, after years, it starts to feel personal. Complaining about rejections is faux pas, but goddamn they're defeating. I got seven this week, some after months and one after being shortlisted. It feels like throwing darts into a pit.

I don’t think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ ICE. This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined. It is setting up to make what’s happening now look like child’s play. And people are disappearing.
