Whoa - CNN reports that Rs are discussing giving up on Miller-Meeks (IA-01), Kean (NJ-07), and Harding (NE-02). If true, I think I spy 🌊 forming… (Bear in mind: Rs have lots of $$, so pulling means both that these battlegrounds must really be hopeless, and that they need $$ in MANY other races)

PREGNANCY INTERRUPTED, reviewed in The New Yorker: "There are a seemingly infinite number of ways that pregnancy can be misunderstood, mislabelled, or oversimplified, whether because of deceptively binary tests or cultural narratives that tell us pregnancy is a linear experience.”

The Unsettling Ambiguity of Early Pregnancy
Binary tests offer an illusion of certainty, but pregnancy is a nonlinear experience, and confirming one is a process of slowly ruling out all other possibilities.

Pleased to share that my new piece, "Men & Wrongful Death for Abortion" is forthcoming in Texas A&M Law Review and up on SSRN. A brief thread 1/ papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers....
A picture of the abstract of the article that says -- Antiabortion advocates in ban states are emphasizing male harm from abortion and recruiting men to sue for the wrongful death. Specifically, advocates want lawsuits against the out of state doctor who prescribed and mailed the medication and anyone else who helped the pregnant person. These lawsuits assuredly could have a chilling effect on doctors and helpers.
But should they? This Article is the first to critically examine these claims and it argues that they are inherently weak. Men should lose these claims because of the woman’s consent; that consent means the doctor did not commit any tortious conduct. Men should also lose because they need to prove damages. The Article relies on social science research on men and pregnancy, and men and pregnancy loss, to argue that their disembodied pregnancy experience and the short timeframe of pregnancy before medication abortion mean men are likely to lack evidence of damages.
These weaknesses do not exist to the same extent within a man’s claim after tortiously caused pregnancy loss—a harm tort law has long devalued and disbelieved, especially when claimed by men. This longstanding devaluation undermines the claimed desire to compensate men’s (alleged) emotional harm from abortion.

Effectively Unfundable
Aaron Scherer, PhD, associate professor of internal medicine at the University of lowa's Carver School of Medicine, studies why people do or don't get vaccinated. On April 1, 2025, his career-development award — which covered most of his salary — was abruptly terminated. The reason he was given, he said, was that 'it is the policy of NIH not to prioritize vaccine hesitancy." With vaccine-preventable diseases resurging, he said, the decision made no sense.
The fallout reshaped his career. His project manager left; his department had to absorb his and his graduate student's salaries. Because his planned next grant was also on vaccine confidence
— now effectively unfundable — the award meant to launch his independence instead left him starting over. He has since submitted three proposals on unrelated topics; the earliest, he said, might be funded in April 2027, if at all.
. "95% of my salary is
supposed to come from grant funding,'
" he said.

A wild day in the GOP race for Iowa governor. Public poll showed Feenstra sinking, Lahn rising (consistent with private polling). Establishment hit the panic button, got Trump to endorse Randy Feenstra, finally. Minutes later Zach Lahn announced he has Turning Point USA's support.

Highly Respected American First Congressman, Randy Feenstra, is running for Governor of Iowa, a place I love and WON BIG in 2016, 2020, and 2024, getting the highest Vote in the History of Iowa. Randy is MAGA all the way!

A Fourth Generation Iowan, successful Businessman, former Treasurer of Sioux County, State Senator, and now, as a distinguished U.S. Congressman, Randy has delivered strong results for the Hawkeye State. As your next Governor, Randy will fight tirelessly to Grow the Economy, Cut Taxes and Regulations, Promote MADE IN THE U.S.A., Unleash American Energy DOMINANCE, Champion our Amazing Farmers and Ranchers, Empower Ethanol, Keep our Border SECURE, Stop Migrant Crime, Ensure LAW AND ORDER, Strengthen our incredible Military, Veterans, and Law Enforcement, Advance Election Integrity, and Defend our always under siege Second Amendment.

My doctor saved my son's life with an emergency c-section in this same hospital. For for this woman, they just left her -- just waited for her to almost die for 5 days, even though there was no way this baby was going to survive, before sending her out of state. This is horrific.

Well, look at that. Planned "early" birth can be good for both mom and baby. Love this quote -- "A common misconception is that by waiting longer, mum and baby are gaining more time, but often what you are doing is just delaying an inevitable emergency birth, when both may be in a worse condition"
