Obsessed with this Moche barn owl jug from 200–500 CE that I came across on the Met website. So expressive and lifelike. IMO the best pottery in the world comes from the ancient indigenous peoples of Peru—if you're not familiar, Moche and Nazca pottery is a great place to start.

My Vision is to do a whole Unplug spa-themed weekend for myself. Massage, wine in a bath, books, crafts, everything on my phone blocked except for emergency calls. That last will likely be excruciating (I’m a millennial with ADHD, my phone is my dissociation crutch) at first, but definitely needed.

Tsugi has been in excellent kitten form despite the persistent heat here. She is determined to snuggle constantly still, but has embraced the “napping on her back” lifestyle to air out her tummy.

Tsugi had a big day, and is now very eepy. She had her first visit to our vet (to get established) & yelled the whole way there & back, but was very good during the actual visit. She has endured the indignity of topical parasite prevention, & the trauma of trying to lick it off & finding it gross

Crucially, the GLOVE has limitations, chief among them that for the device to work effectively and deliver its restraining pain shock, it must come into contact with the subject's bare skin. According to Compliant Technologies, the gloves won't work through dry clothing or thick hair. The gloves will work, however, if the subject is wearing thin, wet clothing, such as soaked T-shirts or blouses. The GLOVE also does not like being dunked in water and will likely be rendered inoperable if this happens.

Tansy is SO patient with her goblin baby sister. She just sat there and indulgently let Tsugi bat at both sides of her head simultaneously for long enough for me to get my phone, open the camera, and catch the tail end of it. And now they are galloping around together with the bedtime zoomies

I did not want “someday” to come as quickly as it did. I was not ready, only a few months after Mina passed. It took years after losing Jack, and Tansy being essentially dropped into my lap (guided there by Jack is my personal belief), to bring another cat into the house. But Tansy needed it.

Tansy was a miracle, absolutely the only cat Mina ever would have been able to coexist with like that after Jack passed a few years prior. I had always hoped someday Tansy would be able to run and chase and tackle with someone who *could* reciprocate the way she clearly wanted.

You’d better believe I cried. Tansy loved Mina dearly, and Mina loved her too - she loved her enough to *try*, but Mina was chronically ill for years and her body just couldn’t match Tansy’s energy, and that was frustrating for Mina. Tansy was eternally patient and understanding with her though.

Tansy really hammed it up on her end, while deliberately giving Tsugi opportunities to catch up to her. They weren’t quite ready to tackle each other, but they would zoom up to the same point, pause, then switch up who was the one chasing and change directions. Body language all open and happy.
