There is no praise I could value more than that of my own dear father, who shared his love of Tolkien with all the children in our family and who put my feet on this path long, long ago. He made the Professor's writings part of our family heritage. Books are beginning to arrive!

They got me again. I don’t know whether to fight Ilona Andrews or give them a hug. When I was presented with this new book that's a portal fantasy, a slow-burning romance, and (forgive me) an elevated take on the Game of Thrones show, they had me at Ilona Andrews

It's also patently incorrect when talking about Tolkien, it's such a surface level argument, that has been dismantled so many times before too, particularly by the Professor himself

My account for the next few days will just be pull-quotes from Pope Leo's enycylical on "A.I." I'd apologize except that my man is spitting bars.

"We must lovingly safeguard the grandeur of humanity bestowed upon us and revealed in its fullness in Christ, the splendor of which no machine can ever replace. True progress always stems from a heart open to others, an intelligence willing to listen and a will that seeks what unites rather than what separates." (Pope Leo XIV, "Magnifica Humanitas")
