New from my phd student @joshgoddard98.bsky.social: he shows, using many election and panel studies across the advanced democracies, that housing status has replaced occupational class as a key predictor of voting. Class voting is now about assets, not income www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...

The Stan culture that has taken over wider society sucks so much and is a massive driver of our inability to develop successful political movements to produce the kinds of societal change necessary for everyone to be able to live a good life. Instead, we get a hyper-individualisation.

Nice thread by @ammassarisofia.bsky.social about our presentation today to Australian Electoral Commission, plus some findings of our survey of Gen-Z voters & non-voters. As Sofia says, we've got a lot of work in the pipeline on this & on youth wing members which hopefully will all be out in 2025.

Something that never gets old is speaking to prospective thesis students about what they want to study. There’s a passion and interest in their subject of inquiry that is infectious. One of the best parts of teaching.

Good morning everyone, it's Wednesday, the third day of the longest strike at the University of Melbourne since 1856. Yesterday I detailed one way in which over-casualization leads to overwork for me. Today, I'm going to show how it all adds up for staff across the Uni. #unimelbstrikes

How do you tank something as straightforward as letting people post their ideas and share them with each other, when you already have the platform built that enables them to do so?
