Today is #RightToKnowDay! What happens to politicians' "private" papers when they leave? Do the Aus public have a #RighttoKnow? Our approach is roughshod, inconsistent, and too reliant on individual good will. @opengovpartnership.org @mrrexpatrick.bsky.social doi.org/10.22459/HR....

I'm exploring using LLMs for qual text coding. I'm using a text-based interface, not an API (what my uni will fund...). After giving my coding instructions, Opus very kindly says it will be a lot of work, but "I'm willing to do this"! Thanks, that's very kind of you!:

What is a reasonable time wait to get feedback/decision after an HREC meeting? (human research ethics committee, in the Australian system) What are other people's experiences? Does your uni have published standards?

Is parliamentary behaviour becoming more personalised? YES & NO. 40+ years of Question Time in Aus - who asks opp Qs & whom those Qs target. PMs now face double the opp Qs of 40yrs ago. V different pattern for Opp Leaders. Now in Party Politics doi.org/10.1177/1354...
Abstract
Question Time is a highly visible and adversarial parliamentary arena central to executive accountability, yet increasing personalisation may redirect scrutiny from collective party actors to individual leaders. This article analyses personalisation in Australian Question Time using more than 21,500 opposition questions asked between 1981 and 2025. We examine two dimensions of centralised personalisation: who asks opposition questions and whom those questions target, theorising variation through party structure (single-party vs coalition opposition) and institutional reforms to leadership selection rules. The findings challenge claims of a uniform rise in elite behavioural personalisation. While opposition questioning has become increasingly Prime Minister-centred over time, who asks questions follows a distinct pattern. Leader dominance varies across parties and institutional periods, rising in single-party oppositions but remaining lower and declining in coalitions, and falling further after leadership reforms. These results show that parliamentary personalisation is multi-dimensional and contingent on party organisation and institutional rules.

The more I think about this, the more annoyed I am. It isn’t the peer reviewer’s job to check references. The journal / publisher should be doing this. It isn’t hard, and the failure to check really reflects poorly on the journal as much as the author.

Bob Katter AND Shah of Iran jumpscare in as many paragraphs, truly a rich text
Joh jumped to his feet at one stage and confirmed that he had discussed uranium mining with the Shar of Iran during his recent middle East trip.
He said that the Shar had agreed with him that if we failed to mine uranium and export it, others would take it by force.
Blast the Great Divide
There was one particularly intelligent question from the parliamentar-ians. This came from Bob Katter junior, who asked whether the Great Dividing RAnge could be blown up with A-bombs to allow water to flow inland to his electorate of Flinders.
