I pointed out that the anti-Beltline Rail group, Better Atlanta Transit, is using the same weak arguments as MARTA opponents in the 60s/70s and after a short exchange, they blocked me. They stopped responding after I shared this old ad, presumably because they were about to publish it themselves.

Alleged transit advocates @betteratltransit.bsky.social are intent on keeping the Beltline exactly the way it is because they're more concerned with the profits of real estate developers than connecting our infamously segregated city. They have no solutions, no new ideas, and no credibility.

Is MARTA safe? For the most part, absolutely! That being said, this is an incredibly tone deaf response. If MARTA leadership wants to improve the system's reputation and build trust, they need to take people's fears seriously and admit they've made a lot of mistakes. www.ajc.com/news/2026/06...

If only every traffic fatality got the same kind of breathless reporting as the isolated acts of violence on MARTA. "I'm scared to take the train!" says people who risk their lives every day changing lanes on I-75. There are no daily activities as likely to kill you as commuting by car. #gapol

Walking around NYC is a great reminder of how much more room Atlanta has to grow. If we committed to building housing and mass transit like our lives depend on it (which they do), we could comfortably double our population. Communities like these thrive because they're built around life over cars.

I'm so serious when I say I love research that questions "did X happen" or "is there a gap between X and Y" and finds: nope. Is there a difference b/w how rural and non-rural R's feel about schools? Not really! In some areas yeah, but overall not really. We need truth, regardless if it's flashy.

For the umpteenth time since figuring this out in 2018, Atlanta has a source of $100Ms, without a politically impossible new GA tax law. Make commercial trophy towers & data centers pay tax on fair market value. And stop tax breaks for projects that don't need them.

Over the weekend, Cox Enterprises published a blatantly biased article in the paper they own in an effort to kill Beltline Rail. Their solution to our transit crisis? Uber, Lyft, and 1,000 Rivians, which they would personally profit from. #gapol moshpitpolitics.substack.com/p/a-city-hel...

Future of Atlanta Beltline hangs in the balance. Trains are not the answer.
The Atlanta Beltline was envisioned as a place for trails, parks and transit. The first two made this jewel a success, but the third needs to evolve to 21st century solutions.

In fact, Georgia primaries are interesting in that there are four districts that DSA members are targeting:
Democratic socialists are looking to make inroads in Georgia, and they landed their first state lawmaker in 2024 with Gabriel Sanchez’s election to the state House. This spring, Sanchez is facing a primary as he runs for reelection in the 42nd District. Meanwhile, more DSA members are looking to join him—Aaron Baker (51st), Jeremiah Olney (57th), Mathewos Samson (58th), and Kendra Clark (165th).
