Unreliable narrator stories are fun until you live through a global-economy tanking war between two sets of relentless liars both trying to influence a stock market full of investors who don't actually care what's true.

The fact that we're years into the AI push and only now are the financial people saying "wait - where's the roi on this supposed to come from?" really underscores every lie I've ever been taught about capitalist economic superiority in resource allocation

The double standard goes back at least to Clinton. It has just become more blatant under Trump. ("It has just become more blatant under Trump" is a phrase that can describe a hell of a lot of American life I think)

...I assume some bishop friend of his called him up and told him he was cruising for a bruising if he didn't apologize. The Pope is powerful in the Church, but canon law (and the bishops) tie his hands with a lot of precedent that has to be navigated. Which is why he's working to deranged the usccb

...but for laity its "getting an abortion" or "helping someone get an abortion" that cause automatic excommunication for laity (thanks to JP2 in '83). Otherwise you need a trial on a particular offense If Vance had doubled down instead of apologizing, he might have triggered a trial...

Leo is very careful to stay within the bounds of canon law and it's actually difficult to excommunicate laity. Priests and people pretending to be priests have all sorts of ways they can be excommunicated without a trial...

It was suggested that it had to go to a jury because Musk alleged he didn't know what was going on until a point within the limit And that the jury found that he should have known if he was paying attention so it was his own fault he filed too late Which is kinda hilarious imo
