UK Deepmind staff are unionizing in an attempt to prevent Google from using Deepmind's models for military purposes. Even if this falls through I think it sets a really positive precedent and hopefully makes researchers realize how important to the labs they currently are.

The brain is expensive and evolution is parsimonious, and some brain parts actively and effortfully self model. It wouldn't happen for no reason. Also it is convergently useful! Some manta rays and ants (with demanding social lives) pass the mirror test! Beluga whales have names. Etc.

Woah! "Real ID" is becoming *slightly* more real in a disorienting way 🫠 If you don't have it they make you file $45 worth of paperwork, and the commercial receipt for that is your de facto "real" ID at the airport! The oligarchy is getting more oligarchic!

TFW Ecclesial Deists admire God's providential cleverness in having created Ecclesial Theists, and then want to help them... but the help is rejected when the Theists test, and the Deist's deontic honesty causes the Theists to accurately think the Deist is not enough of Theist.

This is the hard part. By default, cross timeline communication spawns new timelines. Make it cheaper by: (1) only seeing things that matter, (2) tracing ideas back to primary sources, (3) not remembering what you can derive from 1st principles instead, (4) <a secret thing you can probably predict>.
