Saw Adrian Utley (Portishead) and Philip Selway (Radiohead) play a little bit of music in the beautiful Blackfriars Priory as part of Gloucester History Festival tonight. One of those magical things when all the parts came together
Adrian Utley to the left of the stage, seated with a guitar and Philip Selway on the right, sitting behind a keyboard. From the rear of the priory, looking towards the stage.

Dreamt last night that you could book a special dinner at the British Museum with the Bayeux Tapestry as a tablecloth. In case the curators need any more marketing ideas.

Rejected petition: Make full eclipses an annual occurrence in the UK and a Public Holiday.
Eclipses are an awesome phenomenon and it is unfair that Spain had a full one and we didn’t. I want a full eclipse in the UK every year and for it to be a Public Holiday.

Made this bar of chocolate from scratch. Literally from the cocoa beans. Extremely proud of myself.

I think, if you asked my husband, he’d tell that you one of his favourite pastimes is explaining plot details of programmes in which I’ve shown zero interest until partway through season three.

Really miffed that my husband got that emergency alert minutes before me and would therefore be saved before me in the event of imminent danger.

Wasn’t massively bothered about the eclipse but I live with an engineer so that cut no mustard.
A set up involving a pair of binoculars on a tripod, a white board and a mobile phone on a standard in a British back garden. Scissors and a roll of sellotape are on the table. Projected onto the board is a partial eclipse. It looks very much like someone’s GCSE project.

My abiding memory of the 1999 eclipse is that my friend Lucy’s dad made us bacon sandwiches and I think that probably says enough about it.

Extract from Private Eye: Bluesky also banned

THE government confirmed today that, despite being left off the initial list, Bluesky would be included in the social media sites banned for under 16s.

Said a Downing Street spokesman, "We're determined to protect impressionable teen minds from being exposed on Bluesky to friendly polite
conversation on topics ranging from the albums of Miles Davis to classic 70s Hollywood movies and the best era of Doctor Who."

He continued, "Filling teenagers' impressionable young minds with this genial chat is no way to prepare them for the hellish Al future that awaits them."

Had a late Sunday lunch in a venue with both a DJ and a live saxophonist but the ceilings were high and the dining room separate, so the two weren’t in sync and it was honestly the most terrible racket I’ve ever heard. Silence for the foreseeable future please.

Happy 13th anniversary to that terrible misunderstanding at a WI meeting.
PARKHAM WI: The speaker at the April meeting was Captain Colin Darch, who talked about piracy embarrassingly the WI all dressed as pirates for the evening not real-ising that Captain Darch was going to be talking about his experience of being held hostage by Somall pirates rather than piracy in general.Captain Darcy with a group of WI ladies who are dressed as pirates. He’s quite chipper despite everything.
