Oh I should be clearer, masks are required not optional for events like Game Jams and this. I meant they ask and offer because that's how they make people feel. Sure it could be seen as a rule being enforced, but it's not--its seen as a community agreement they join and uphold. Quite lovely.

In terms of scholars and research being accessible to lay persons, YT is still the best. I've watched about 40 videos on dementias. The newer research is that many are mixed dementia, having 2 or more distinct types like Alzheimers and Vascular. Mixed gives me a way to parse symptoms and progress

In my Gender and Jim Crow class, we have a whole session on lynching images. I don’t show the victims, I show the crowds. We zero in on the faces in the crowds, their expressions, the children, the mothers, the picnics, the jubilation…all of it.

The death penalty is inadmissible because it is an attack on the inviolability and dignity of the person. I adore disability forward community orgs who still ask and offer masks. Chronic ill, immune compromised, Long viruses, etc. folks can equitably access community. They get it is no more burdensome than ramps for mobility disabled. Most of all, their community says yes to access and masks.

The most interesting part of the Ai conference K-12 teachers was chatting with Doug about student digital knowledge. Many don't have a reference for a desktop or file structures or downloading and installing software.

Nothing was particularly new from stock things I hear anyway. I skipped the rest of the sessions. Digital literacy was named, which is interesting it wasn't called Ai literacy as many others do. So a more expansive umbrella, but will that make a difference?

1sr, OR is adopting Comp Sci Teacher Association's standards, and the focus of the Ai panel was centered on policy needs and supporting K-12 teachers to implement. 2nd, notably absent was Ai boosterism in fear appeals, but it was driven by edu for capitalism--critical consumers and high wage jobs.

I thought about it, and while I've had people who don't like me, I've never been called annoying. Which surprised me! And I have besties who tell me their true thoughts. They'd definitely say you are annoying X person and should stop.

I am pleased I did not rise to their insults. I've never been called a Karen for asking a question though.

They were nice enough to wish me well after this. I am dissapointed they wouldn't respond to a simple question about their saneism. It's my genuine curiousity at their rationalization of it. Sometimes, someone even hears us out and considers their conduct. Which is wonderful.
