I have a case where opposing lawyers have made a shocking number of filings with fake cases and quotes. This was one of their argument in opposition to sanctions. I was gobsmacked when I read it, and can't believe it's now part of the standard defense.

I genuinely try not to be a cynic. Really! But my immediate reaction to this is that this has all the markings of a sham process, so FIFA can say that Belgium appealed, was heard, and lost. Or that Belgium could have appealed and did not. Tough spot for Belgium to be in! Participate? Or not?

Is it standard practice in soccer TV coverage to mix the booth so low and the crowd so high that you can't hear any of the commentary at all? Or is that just a Fox thing? Been that way for the entire tournament. Super sucks.

I totally agree with this, but I feel compelled to also help people understand the absurd burdens that physicians are under to document patient visits and do paperwork. A doctor I know, who does not even work full time, just *took a week of vacation* to catch up on charting.

Ohio blogger The Rooster arrested at Statehouse for online harassment
Laura A. Bischoff
~1 minute
Updated June 1, 2026, 6:07 p.m. ET
The Ohio State Highway Patrol arrested online political writer D.J. Byrnes, also known as The Rooster, at the statehouse on June 1 on a misdemeanor warrant.
A patrol spokesman said Byrnes, who posts his stories to his Substack subscribers, was arrested on an outstanding warrant. He was booked into the Franklin County Jail, records show. The patrol did not provide further details.
Byrnes' colleague, Max Littman, said he believes the arrest is related to Byrnes texting photos of cartoon character Shrek's penis to a state senator.
"If that is in
fact true, that he was arrested over that, then it's blatant targeting a political opponent and journalist," Littman said.

JobsOhio's mission is vague. It gives out grants and incentives and a bunch of other stuff but it's not subject to open meetings laws or anything and it very likely serves to funnel money to allies of those in power. Ohio State's former president sought money from it for his mistresses' podcast!

Speaking of slush funds, Ohio has had an insane one in place for 15 years. It's called JobsOhio. It was created by the state in 2011. It's funded by liquor taxes. It's set up as a private corporation, however, and it's a black box with no disclosure or reporting requirements.

How evil is the NWSL? Their proposed Columbus expansion team is trying to take land donated with the express purpose to “create multiple sports fields for people with disabilities” in that specific underserved neighborhood. I wish failure on the team & the league. www.dispatch.com/story/news/l...
That 10 acres of land came from the Younkin family, who are in the RV and manufactured home business through their Greenlawn Companies. They sold most of the land to the city for about $5 million and donated 1.5 acres. The land includes an office building, which a contract obtained by The Dispatch shows the city agreed to turn into the
"Younkin Therapeutic Recreation Center." The city contract also agreed to create multiple sports fields for people with disabilities and name them after individuals.
