As a bedside RN during the pandemic, I know where I was exposed but to be able to prove my long covid symptoms arose from that is impossible. I work with many who share a similar story but feel completely unsupported by the hospitals who asked us to make tremendous sacrifices. #longcovid

Important review about #POTS from my colleague @satishraj.bsky.social, who is part of our @islc-pais.bsky.social society and is presenting at our meeting this Friday. #LongCovid
Text reads: Long COVID Autonomic Problems: POTS & IOH
This session explores autonomic dysfunction in Long COVID, with a focus on how these disorders evolve over time. Dr. Raj will discuss the diagnosis of postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS) and initial orthostatic hypotension (IOH), review findings from formal autonomic testing, and provide practical insights into current management strategies for these frequently overlooked conditions.

It is sad that Scott Atlas doesn’t understand basic economics. Paul Samuelson wrote about public goods—why NIH has been such a stunning success—more than 75 yrs ago. Also, to see why Atlas urges ending US success, just look at who elevates him: pro-privatization billionaires. 1/

Graphs of the number of job postings on USAJobs during 2018-present. The top panel visualizes postings across the entire US government, the middle across all of HHS, and the bottom for all of CDC. Postings for the whole government dropped approximately 70% in early 2025 but steadily rose to somewhat lower than usual by present day. Postings for HHS and CDC became virtually non-existent in early 2025; however, while posting rose a bit for HHS, CDC postings did not occur for an entire year. Only in recent months have a handful of CDC posting occurred.

No, this is far from the truth. As someone who as an undergrad, PhD student and early postdoc thought I knew everything: The skillset and depth of subfield knowledge required to run a R1 STEM lab are high. The real skill research faculty bring is coaching and scientific judgement. 🧪 1/

@wishda.bsky.social
The quiet part here is that many R1 STEM faculty are glorified lab managers.
They aren't doing the work, they aren't writing it up, and in the high publication volume labs, they are barely even reviewing the papers being submitted.
But since its "their lab", they are first author.
