A lot of people are struggling right now. Including your queer and trans fam, and your artists friends, and the people who are both. The mental health pressures are real and the consequences are potentially devastating. Check on your people. Let them know how much you love having them around.

Indeed, and it's great to see that you're getting some media traction. But the supposedly-anti-AI voices that are getting the loudest amplification are the doomers (who are really pro-AI) -- for all the obvious reasons, but still, not clear how to change the dynamics.

I’m glad more people are pointing this out. I talked about it it a few weeks ago w/ @janus.bsky.social Companies are attempting a sleight of hand where they capture data but argue because of how it’s processed it’s not “recording” and is thus private. They are still surveillance devices!

Soon, asking “Does this device have a camera?” won’t be good enough.

That'd be interesting if it starts with a reflection on how your original post is an example of arguing within the parameters of AI -- and how many people critiquing the pushback missed that. blacksky.community/profile/did:...

Yeah, my biggest takeaway from this is how successful AI boosters are with the manipulative language -- even a media literacy expert who's anti-AI can fall into the trap of echoing the AI boosters' language when he's trying to critique AI, and the academics defending him don't even appear to notice.

I don't think lack of hyperbole or bluntness is the issue here. You led off the post by mirroring the language of a gotcha point that AI boosters (and some anti-AI people trying to pass themselves off as "reasonable") use that reinforces the inevitablity narrative, used a confusing example ...
