I've made a laminated sign for the back of my work laptop, to be visible to people on the desks opposite me.
Laminated sign on a laptop that says "How accessible is the thing you’re working on? Learn how to check and get it right from the start in future. Accessibility: A range of techniques, for giving all kinds of people, equivalent experiences and opportunities, despite limitations in their capabilities.

Accessibility job descriptions should have an honest indication of how much of the role is being an audit machine and how much is the actual interesting stuff. Big difference between using an audit as a consultation tool and doing constant audits with occasional “fun” stuff as a treat.

Idea: To encourage people to go up and down the correct side of stairs, add an angle to the central handrail. Has this been done anywhere? Was it effective (combined with other techniques)? If not why not? #UX #nudge #DragonsDen #idea #crowdcontrol
Large stairwell as in a train station with a central handrail. At the bottom, the handrail angles to one side making one side of the stairs wider than the other.

New to @bsky.app? We’ve got some etiquette just for you! Turn on the little feature that reminds you to post alt text with your images. Alt text allows blind and partially sighted people to understand what's in your images using screen readers. Without alt text, it just says "image".
Screen shot of "Accessibility Settings" with two main categories: "Alt text" and "Media." Under Alt text, there are two toggle options labelled "Require alt text before posting," which is switched on. “Display larger alt text badges" Under Media, there’s an option labelled "Disable autoplay for videos and GIFs," which is switched on.

TIP: To embed something into your mind, such as a new behaviour at work or a task to do. Set it as one of your passwords, so you are reminded of it a few times each day. For example "checkPosts4accessibility." I've found this very useful."
