Two clementine boxes filled with weird little guys who’ve been underglazed. The back box is filled with mermaid-like creatures & the front owlish harpies (and a couple crow-harpies)

They’re such a real-feeling couple too. The bit where they move in together and Henry (I think) is talking about the music they can’t play while the other is in the apartment? Love it. Also the moment when he sees Clare’s little maquettes in her tiny studio room & realizes she’s a caged bird 😭😭😭

I’ve been mulling over flatfish plates for a while & they finally made it to my pottery desk today! I’m so excited to see how these turn out (I have some fun ideas for the glazing 👀).

Six plates in the shape of flatfish sit on a wooden board (there’s also a little clay bird). They’re all made from white clay & are not dry yet.

Another view of the plates where you can see their forms (currently supported by little lumps of clay while they dry to hopefully lessen warping)!

One of my favourite things about where we live in Ottawa is that we can walk to the local baseball stadium (Frontier League, but stadium was built for the Expos’ AAA team so it feels like Real Serious Baseball Time) & the daytime route runs along the river! City life can be so magical 🥰

I have New England asters & smooth blue in my front garden & they’re so gorgeous through the early fall! Also the bees LOVE them — we were waiting for a lyft this morn & I couldn’t even count how many bumblebees (of various species) were having a pollen party!

Okay so @defector.com has had an odd glitch since the site redesign a couple of weeks back where the wrong photo and headline are often put together on the main page and I was going to ask them about fixing it but this just happened and as far as I'm concerned they have to leave it as is.

We ended up going to a small municipal shelter to adopt our dog because the private rescues had so many wild requirements! I get they want to make sure the animals they rescue get a good home, but at a certain point it gets ridiculous (eg. home visits for 6 months after adoption?!).

I’m the same! Anytime I can make something tangy/sour, I will. Do you know about chunky chaat masala? It’s an Indian spice blend with powdered green mango in it, so it’s got a nice tangy zip alongside the salt & other spices 😍

There’s one cactus that can survive in Canada (in Southern Ontario, this guy: www.ontario.ca/page/eastern...) & someone in my neighbourhood in Ottawa has one thriving in a super sheltered/south spot despite the fact we still have serious winters (zone 5a)! It’s super impressive.
