some bugs to work out still but quite impressed with gaussian splats, very fast even with a very simple raster impl

some of those also adapt cine lenses to the back of the phone, which is a big part of getting the light to the sensor faithfully like you are talking about

Another little tool built on top of @meodai.bsky.social's Cusp Hanger to create palettes for generative systems. One ground colour plus foregrounds grouped by contrast. It generates a smooth ramp per hue and selects colours off that ramp by measured contrast.

I've released my Tone Mapping Analysis tools for comparing tone mapping LUTs, implemented as a Unity project with custom editor windows. Compare how different tone mappers look when applied to HDR .exr images, with comparison sliders and a variety of overlays and graphs. github.com/runevision/T...
A table of different images, each row shown with different tone mappers. One cell shows a comparison slider.Graphs are displayed for each tone mapper row and the Saturation Overlay is applied to the images.

going with a cone type geometry for the lights, basically occlusion checks to a disk of a certain radius after an angular threshold check, see if you intersect with the scene before that distance

New Sample - Rendering an OctMap In this new sample, we demonstrate several advanced Vulkan techniques working together: - Octomap instanced rendering — dynamically display a voxel occupancy map generated by ARKit SLAM using GPU instancing. - Gaussian Splat rendering — render the same scene as […]

guessing, because seems related to how it fills polys... maybe adding noise to the path where textures are requested or read? not sure, I don't know a lot about PSX hardware, but it is super cool to see it do its thing

is the bending affecting memory reads or something? very cool to be able to create this kind of effect inside the rendered image

Part of what speaks to me on this is the distorted reflections, reminds me of night time reflections in puddles or polished steel fixtures with street lights and neon signage
