Back to an Irish landscape #painting "Muckish from Falcarragh" Once upon a time I regularly had a 12 km cycle to buy milk when I'd made a pot of tea and realised I was without milk - again. This was a view on the rush back to the waiting pot. I lived in a cottage beside the gap. #SpéirGhorm #ArtYear
Panorama format in painterly acrylics on canvas. A whale-shaped mountain of blue with purple sits against a painterly canary yellow sky. In front runs a brown-green lilac ridge, fading to the right edge with a pass a little left of the centre of the painting through to the left edge of the mountain. In front of the ridge is a strip of bog then a road left to right dotted with white cottages between the line of dark bushes and trees. From there about two dozen green fields run parallel down a slope towards the viewer, separated by small dark hedgerows, until they go out of sight behind a near hedgerow of dark blue and purple which runs across the full width of the painting and marks the edge of 2 warm green fields which run horizontally sloping up to the right a little and separated by smaller similarly coloured hedgerow. Signed bottom right in dark blue on the bright green field, Liam Daly

Time for a #painting "Howth Lighthouse and Dublin Bay" was one of the dozens of paintings I did the first time I did a 24-hour livestreamed video painting marathon thing. It's an evening view of the Baily Lighthouse and across the bay as seen from high up on the Howth Cliff Walk #SpéirGhorm #ArtYear
Landscape format in acrylics on mat board. A blue painting, of two halves looking from a distance down and across a bay. The horizon is a touch below the halfway mark. Bottom half is the sea rendered in a dark blue somewhere between ultramarine and royal blue. On the right edge a triangular of a headland juts out into the sea. It is a very dark red and green, appearing almost black. On its upper slope there is a step where a small white and grey lighthouse sits, the tower rising from a rectangular building. Above the horizon the sky is a smokey pale blue with a warm under-painting hinting at broad horizontal patches of very muted orange, appearing almost as a pale green. Along the horizon a narrow undulating strip of land reaches out from the right edge to three-quarters of the way across, tapering as it stretches out. It is dark so contrast with the sky, but not as dark as the headland in the right foreground. The sea closest to the land is a pale blue, almost the same as the sky, and has a smokey edge giving the effect of the land rising from mist and over at its left end disappearing into it. Inside that pale blue strip is a broken sliver of a dark line from the right edge which is a pier or breakwater. I took this photo of the painting before I added my signature.

A west of Ireland #painting. "Through a Burren Wall" I painted because I love walls, especially walls of stone. Like love them so much I can spend hours looking at them. And this one was easy because there was a big hole in it that let you see the view - of fields of stone. #Art #SpéirGhorm #ArtYear
Landscape format in painterly acrylics on canvas. Across foreground is dry stone wall. Stones are shades of orange, with blue and alizarin in shadow areas, and have many crevice parallel lines. Through spaces between rocks on left, at upper levels, we see a pale blue mountain in distance. Through large gap on right side upper we see yellow 'fields' of stone, another wall in the distance, trees in a hedgerow along the horizon, and a pink mountain with lilac shadows suggesting strata, and a pale aqua blue mountain behind it. Sky is a painterly yellow leaning into orange, with hints of green in places. Bottom of wall in front has a band across the bottom of the picture of green grass with blue and yellow detailing including some long single yellow strands stretching up and leaning over either direction. Signed bottom right in very dark blue on the grass, Liam Daly

Sticking with the west of Ireland for another #painting. "The Long Walk, Boats" is not the first time I've painted this iconic Galway scene, and I have another one in progress currently. This came out of spending happy times in the city looking across from the Claddagh. #art #SpeirGhorm #ArtYear
Landscape format in acrylics on canvas. View diagonally across a pale teal body of water, to the rears of three fishing boats docked at a wall on waterside dark blue stones with the tide out past pale green rocks. Above the wall across the road is a row of houses, mostly two stories but three with three. Almost all colours are shades of blues and pinks, including lilac and purple. Eight of the houses are mostly pale, off-white, with one red, one purple, and one lilac. Shadow area at base of dock wall is almost black, house slate roofs are bright blue with touches of purple. The largest building is at the left end and it has several skylights on its big high roof. There are some white features on elements of boats especially the wheelhouses and and trim along the sides, and a couple of houses. A tiny triangular glimpse of sky is yellow. A #painting from County Mayo done a few years ago. "Clare Island Sunset" came out of an evening where I climbed onto a fence post to take in the sun setting over Clew Bay, before realising my dodgy knees would mean I'd be stuck up there a while. Worse places to be stuck. #SpeirGhorm #ArtYear
Landscape format in acrylics on canvas. Foreground is a horizontal band of the sea in two shades of lilac, lighter close to horizon along which the silhouetted shape in burgundy of Clare Island sits. It is a steep flat-topped mountain at left end, and at right side a jagged tail stretching out to almost the right edge of the painting. Behind the sky is purple up to almost the top of the mountain then incomplete stripes of blazing orange, smoky purple and deep yellow, paler at the right edge. Top third has more orange to the right, then purple into lilac blobs running across to the left edge, and a pale blue band at the top with a few purple daubs with smokey ochre edges.
