For those struggling to keep up, Calvin has been a part of his current denomination (the English Catholic Church) for about a year, so following his previous trajectory it seems he's due to be kicked out any day now... bsky.app/profile/jayh...

Calvin may not have changed denominations (for once) but I'm obsessed with this because Monsignor is a title that is specifically bestowed by the Pope as an honour and is unrelated to a priests job or role, and so to decide that you're a Monsignor in a denomination that doesn't have a Pope is WILD.

Nothing like cracking open a new book of poetry and just being overwhelmed with the realisation that you're interacting with something... Phenomenal. Gonna have to take some serious time with this one.

And what do you think the royal family are??? The British are less a race, and more a collection of things. Just like our language. It's what makes British nationalism and race politics so particularly stupid.

Very very frustrating when couples can get married in churches because they like the aesthetics, but those who regularly attend for years and truly want God to be part of their lives and relationships cannot.

Just because a building is built doesn't mean it ought to be there forever. but this was a long-serving parish with a lot of history in the Ancoats area, it could have made a great community space if it wasn't camped on for profit. and it would seem now that the camper played the long game and won.

I don't think this was a particularly great building: an 1830s Commissioners brick box, just atypically Neo-Norman. Pevsner naturally stuck some pejoratives in ("uncouth pinnacles") Maybe it shouldn't have been listed. Irony is, if it wasn't, it would probably have been repurposed and still be here.

Basically, the private owner of the building, after failing to shift it for a guide price of £450k, has been allowed for it continue to become dangerously overgrown so they can level the whole building on their own terms for a nice clear site for luxury flats. Listing is a joke.

Every time he leaps onto a vehicle to try and murder the occupants, they show it in slow motion so you can see his asshole revealed in slow motion betwixt his chaps. Incredible cinematography. They were doing wild things in 1980's Australian cinema, apparently.

I don't know what they'll be using for this specific scenario, but I used to have to get knocked out at the dentist as a kid (my dentist phobia is... bad) and they gave me strawberry flavoured gas through the mask - and that was 20 years ago. There's so much out there to make it easier for kids.

My old laptop was made of leather (don't ask any questions). So now it's dead I'm planning to peel it and make something out of its skin (I said, don't ask any questions). It's not much leather so I'm taking suggestions as to what to make once it's been flayed (I meant it about the questions).

Okay, air fryer roasties recipe: Cut up a potato into small pieces and put in a bowl or something. Add oil, thyme, powdered garlic, and salt. Measure with your heart. Shake to coat. Throw em in the air fryer at 190°c for 12-15 mins. Shake the drawer occasionally, to stop them sticking. Eat.

I always found it interesting, when I spent November in The USA, how little they could comprehend the shortness of our days in winter, and how amazed I was by their long hours of daylight, and it all came down to the fact that the UK is much much further north than people think.

Hello Bone Colleagues,
I have invented a new type of ankle and I'm very excited to show it to you. Early raccoon trials suggest a 60% increase in scurrying speed and dramatic increases in fine motor banditry. I know we are not supposed to create super raccoons, but I think you'll change your mind and professional ethics when you see how cute they are. I believe we are on the cusp of a new era in advanced human scurrying because if medical science has taught me anything, it's that improvements in raccoons correspond 1:1 to improvements in humans.

I've heard people make claims that AI would lead to a new Renaissance, but I didn't imagine it'd happen like this:
Screenshot of a Tweet from Pope Leo XIV. It reads:

"In this era of artificial intelligence, it is becoming urgen to distinguish human art from what machines produce. There is an ontological difference, even before an aesthetic one, between art and what a machine can generate through statistical calculation based on millions of images created by others. Algorithms lack the spark of humanity. For this reason, the Church wishes to renew an alliance with artists and cultural institutions to safeguard our humanity."
