Google has now renamed Lake Ontario for US users. They don’t even show the real name in brackets. I used a VPN to compare: Apple hasn’t renamed it (at least not yet), nor has Dutch service Here WeGo or OpenStreetMap. Yet another reason to ditch Google, and US tech more broadly.

The fact that Google accepts Trump's idiotic name change for Lake Ontario isn't a huge deal. Trump's rampant corruption and ICE thug army are more important. But every time a U.S. company capitulates to the dictator, it encourages more capitulation. And that capitulation can end in a horrific place.

During Fiona Hill's testimony to Congress on Oct 14, 2019, she described how Trump and Putin discussed exchanging Ukraine for Venezuela. The quid pro quo was if Trump refuses to help Ukraine fight off a Russian invasion, Putin would not help Venezuela (a Russian ally) resist a US takeover.
