For a deeper dive into GW as a business (and why it's a weird one), I'd recommend this two-parter on a game they released in the 90s. Surprisingly good biz journalism from a hobby website, that I think speaks to the past behind its strange company culture. www.tabletopbattles.com/what-happene...

What Happened to... Gorkamorka? Part One: Gorkers and Morkers
Gorkamorka is probably the most short lived of what would become the “Specialist Games”. There are a lot of dead games out there, but Gorkamorka only lasted six months in the dying days of the second ...

The fishing/GW thing been cited so often, no one seems sure what it refers to any more. Sometimes it's for export value (about 3/4 of GW sales are abroad) and sometimes it's after subtracting fishing-specific subsidies (grants, tax breaks, infrastructure spend).

The "zionism is racism" motion that has just passed on the Green Party's conference floor is truly gross, and deeply racist. The party's MPs deserve some credit for opposing it, though they should've done so more stridently and sooner. This is now a millstone around the party's necks. Deservedly.

I honestly can’t believe this is what has become acceptable in the U.K. why is he not being charged with hate crime? Twitter is a cesspit of antisemitism (and every other ism)
Calvin Robinson has posted an antisemitic diatribe on Twitter that reads “It is the Jews. It has always been the Jews.
Not all of them, but always them.
There is no avoiding this truth. Everything else is a distraction. Once you notice, you cannot unsee.
Marxism/Communism/Socialism, Bolshevism,
Feminism, Liberalism/Libertarianism,
Anarchism, Psychoanalysis, Critical Theories, Neoconservatism, Zionism.”Robinson’s next antisemitic post on twitter “There is no wonder our Lord did not mince his words when describing them:
"Brood of vipers" Matthew 3:7, Luke 3:7, Matthew 12:34 & 23:33.
"Of your father the devil" John 8:44
"killed the Lord Jesus and the prophets" 1
Thessalonians 2:14-16
"Synagogue of Satan" Revelation 2:9 & 3:9
St Paul knew them well:
"You suffered from your own people the same things those churches suffered from the Jews who killed the Lord Jesus and the prophets and also drove us out. They displease God and are hostile to everyone in their effort to keep us from speaking to the Gentiles so that they may be saved."

What on earth is happening?
This had become the new normal. RNLI crew members had been forced to take their permits off their cars after their tyres have been repeatedly slashed. Most of them have been pilloried at the school gates or turned away from local pubs. One man who worked in search and rescue had been beaten unconscious and hospitalised, recognised for TV interviews he had done.

Like, this man has built a company that vies to be the most valuable in the world, entirely off the back of the AI boom. If risk concerns are all a big conspiracy to inflate the bubble, why is he (seemingly successfully) urging Trump not to regulate AI?

Question for people who think the AI companies are talking about risk purely to juice a bubble. Why does Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, which has arguably the most interest in seeing AI spending increase, regularly dismissing those same risk concerns (and seemingly lobbying Trump to that effect)?

One of the downsides in AI getting so good is that it is getting harder to demonstrate its strengths and weaknesses at the frontier. Yes, Astra and Fable can research and write good papers in an academic field. No, they are not as good as top humans (yet?), but you have to know the field to know why

(Also people have come up with step by step scenarios for how AI would kill everyone! I think those generally are too outlandish to be likely, but it doesn't make me go "well this thing that's being built in secret by huge corporations is actually super safe and has no risks to be concerned about.")

Jasper Jackson @jasperjackson.bsky.social · 13/09/2026
The "show me how AI kills everyone step by step" argument is dumb. If you found out the US had started secret work on something called The Manhatten Project, you wouldn't need to see a detailed plan for cold war nuclear arsenal stockpiling to go "gee that might be bad".
