just heard gasoline is apparently quite expensive these days and was thinking, huh, maybe people should buy less of it? but then i check the top-selling vehicles in the US and am mystified. clearly, buying less gasoline is nobody's priority, least of all US car makers and their customers.

Cover depicting a futuristic idea of the 1970 Minneapolis skyline, complete with a “Nicollet Island helicopter landing strip,” foreground. Greater Minneapolis (monthly Chamber of Commerce publication) March 1961 Image: Hennepin Co. Library; digitalcollections.hclib.org/digital/coll...
View toward downtown from across the river. Mixture of actual and imagined buildings. Sleek, jet-age aircraft crossing the sky.

From the magazine:

“ABOUT THE COVER
Painted by prize-winning artist Roger Lundquist of Rumsey, Lundquist and Associates, this month's cover pictures Minneapolis in 1970 as envisioned by the artist. Using caseins in a gouache technique, he has pictured a helicopter landing strip on Nicollet Island, the Knutson Gateway Center redevelopment project in the lower loop and several other futuristic buildings streamlining the Minneapolis skyline. Painting courtesy of the Minneapolis Gas Company.”

So, I live really close to this former brothel, which I find interesting and hilarious given from 1890-1910 this entire area was a pretty hopping red light district. There were 22 brothels right across the street from where I live. I'm really glad at least Dorsey's Sporting House remains.
A map of the Eleventh Avenue South red-light district, 1910. This map shows the district at its high-water mark, with more than twenty brothels concentrated in two square blocks. By this time, successful madams such as Nettie Conley owned brothel buildings and rented them to other madams.
