SCOTUS: Constitutional protections for trans kids who want to play sports with their friends? Of course not, don’t be ridiculous. For AR-15s? Uhh, we’ll get back to you soon on that.
Two New York Times headlines next to each other. The first is about the Supreme Court denying Constitutional protections to trans kids in sports, and the second is about the court agreeing to hear a case about whether AR-15 rifles have Constitutional protections

Concerned that we are losing the necessary ratio. 15% of teachers/faculty should be irretrievably strange eccentrics. Every learning experience should have some element where in later life you can reflect with former classmates about how bizarre at least one (1) class per year was.

In environmental security research, there’s an open empirical question of whether we’ve ever seen a war over water. I’m reading updates from India & Pakistan tonight and wondering if that question will be settled by tomorrow. www.theguardian.com/world/live/2...
Screenshot of an article from The Guardian, reading: The strikes came just hours after Indian prime minister Narendra Modi said that water flowing across India’s borders would be stopped. Pakistan had warned that tampering with the rivers that flow from India into its territory would be an “act of war.”

Modi did not mention Islamabad specifically, but his speech came after Delhi suspended its part of the 65-year-old Indus Waters Treaty, which governs water critical to Pakistan for consumption and agriculture.

“India’s water used to go outside, now it will flow for India,” Modi said in a speech.

The Indus treaty governs the distribution and use of waters from the Indus River and its tributaries, which feed 80% of Pakistan’s irrigated agriculture and its hydropower.

As well as suspending the treaty, Delhi has suspended trade with Pakistan, summoned and expelled its diplomats, and suspended visas for Pakistanis. Pakistan has also suspended all trade with India and closed its airspace to Indian airlines.

Trump to ban transgender athletes from competing in women's sports

President Donald Trump will sign an executive order Wednesday designed to prevent people who were assigned male at birth from participating in women's or girls' sporting events.

The order, which Trump is expected to sign at an afternoon ceremony, marks another aggressive shift by the Republican president's second administration in the way the federal government deals with transgender people and their rights.

I’ll admit I don’t totally get the joke of releasing a special 20th anniversary edition of an album that only came out a few years ago, but Good News For People Who Love Bad News never lets me down.
Special 20th anniversary vinyl cover of Modest Mouse’s 2004 album, Good News For People Who Love Bad News, which has different artwork. It’s a tipping file cabinet in an otherwise empty room, walls painted pink, polished concrete floor, with six white arrows sticking out of the cabinet’s side. Pink paint runs from their tips, like blood.
