Since their reintroduction to Scotland in 1989, RSPB Scotland has been ringing Red Kites to understand more about their movements, lifespans and population. Our director Duncan Orr-Ewing (pictured here ringing a pair of Red Kites) has been there since the very beginning.

Today's main focus at Kinleith was hunting for Himalayan Balsam - and we didn't have to hunt very hard! We pulled hundreds of plants from next to the walkway, and from the banks of the river. We also trimmed back vegetation from paths and steps, and collected rubbish. Great work folks! #INNSweek

We now have a number of sightings of sick red squirrels in Dollar, which we suspect to be squirrelpox. We have not yet had this confirmed by post mortem, but a recent video captured shows a red with symptoms of squirrelpox and we have ruled out some other likely causes, including leprosy.

An RSPB Scotland branded panel with text reading:

We welcome today's conviction of a gamekeeper in Perthshire for the illegal killing of a Goshawk, battered to death after it was caught in a crow cage trap.

Again, RSPB video evidence was decisive in securing this verdict.
