You can practice EBM at different scales (local to international), but the key is to be upfront about the tradeoffs and include all stakeholders throughout the process. With that said, bureaucratic inertia is an ongoing challenge that needs both top-down and bottom-up pressure to improve

I would like to know how we are expected to manage these resources when managing at different levels like international boundaries vs state vs federal. It seems everyone is just tripping over one another and corporate interests conflict.

Exactly, and indigenous knowledge and say is so important. Telling people who heavily rely on the ocean for protein to simply give up fishing, or ignoring their knowledge, experience, and participation in a program is NOT the way to help the problem. #OceanChat

#Fishmas for today is Stegostoma tigrinum - some call it a Zebra shark due to its markings as a youngster - we used to refer to it as a Leopard Shark - although another fish has this name in N. America. This one is found through the Indo-Pacific region #MarineLife #UnderwaterPhotography #Shark

Going over porbeagle necropsy photos and found this incredible shot by Michael Snow. It shows @shellspc.bsky.social and Alex Rubin gently cradling this porbeagle pup. Conditions were worse than terrible and they had every reason to rush, yet they took their time and treated this shark with care. 🦈
