I'm not a plumber. But I'm pretty sure that's not how sinks work.
US Department of Education Facebook post saying SKILLS THAT PAY OFF, showing an AI image of a White man and a brown-skinned woman wearing blue coveralls and tool belts. He's pointing off into the distance and she's working on a sink that has way too many exposed copper pipes in all the wrong places

There IS NO STORY WITHOUT VILLAINS! Trump and the Republicans know this — and they use it in ALL their political communications. Liberals think reason and markets mean the suspension of conflict. “The end of history.” IT’S SO STUPID!!

Some people on the left have argued politics is destined to become 'blame the migrants vs blame the rich'. Fair or not, this binary turns out to be a surprisingly useful question for dividing the country right down the middle! Look at the generational splits, madness.

Stop worrying about bats and newts? No Rachel Reeves MP – start worrying about the future of our economy if we tear down the nature it depends on. Nature isn’t a blocker; it’s the foundation of growth.
Screenshot of a BBC Politics tweet shows Chancellor Rachel Reeves speaking at a podium during a live broadcast of her speech. The quote at the top reads, “We are reducing the environmental requirements placed on developers when they pay into a nature restoration fund… they can focus on getting things built and stop worrying about the bats and the newts,” as she addresses the audience. In the background, there are large screens displaying the live stream of the speech, with a banner at the bottom reading “Kickstarting Economic Growth.”

Occasional reminder that there’s no, “it’s too late, its over” for anthropogenic climate change. Every molecule of CO2 that doesn’t go into the atmosphere makes a difference. Preventing 0.1 degree of warming makes a difference. Every bit of climate resilience we build together makes a difference.

Morning. Happy New Year. A while ago I ran a series of daily tweets about birdsong. The idea was to encourage people to pay attention to the natural sounds around them, and learn to identify birds from their sounds alone (which, after all, is often the only clue you get to their presence).

Hair ice. Who knew of such a thing? Apparently it needs specific conditions - temperature, humidity and a fungus which creates anti freeze proteins 😍

Writing isn't what you do after you have an idea. It's how you develop an inkling into an insight. Turning thoughts into words sharpens reasoning. What's fuzzy in your head is clear on the page. "I'm not a writer" shouldn't stop you from writing. Writing is a tool for thinking.

Skills-based volunteering is a deeply regenerative and abundant source of expertise. It can't replace shrinking funding but it does bring other co-benefits: it builds wider participation in community, develops collevisit muscle and can help share social capital #Abundance #Volunteering

This is hopeful: surge in people stepping up to volunteer their expertise. Ytd 12,000 + new volunteers signed up to Reach Volunteering. Disbelieve your socials - lots of people care and are taking action. It is the story we tell about human nature that is the problem, not human nature itself.
