I'd have more respect for racists if they just said "I am a racist." All this dancing around "they won't integrate" and "legitimate concerns" is mealy-mouthed bollocks. Just grow a spine. Have the courage of you fucking awful convictions, and stop assuming we're all as stupid as you are.

Latvian PM Kulbergs' party achieves a historic victory, pushing populists to the margins
With 35.3% of the vote, an unprecedented result for any political party since 1990 in the country, the centrist, pro-European and pro-Ukrainian leader can now form a coalition without the populists.

No no no. The solution to this is NOT placing restrictions on women, nor limiting the choices available to women. (And women are not "sent" to university, they apply, study and get accepted.)

I've heard people make claims that AI would lead to a new Renaissance, but I didn't imagine it'd happen like this:
Screenshot of a Tweet from Pope Leo XIV. It reads:

"In this era of artificial intelligence, it is becoming urgen to distinguish human art from what machines produce. There is an ontological difference, even before an aesthetic one, between art and what a machine can generate through statistical calculation based on millions of images created by others. Algorithms lack the spark of humanity. For this reason, the Church wishes to renew an alliance with artists and cultural institutions to safeguard our humanity."

New York. Passers-by were asked: What is the first thing they'd do if they were completely safe. Every single woman replied: Take a walk by myself (some added: in the evening, at night, in a park, etc). Most men didn't understand the question.

I've been a member of the lobby for well over a decade. Not a single one of my lobby colleagues has said a word about the Conservatives banning me from their conferences, without any explanation. Contrast with the US where even Fox News stood in solidarity when Trump banned news outlets he disliked

We're repeatedly told that asylum seekers pose a threat to the good people of our country... Reading about the threatening and violent treatment of elderly and open minded locals in Crowborough I get the impression that the real threat comes from closer to home. www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2026...
On Facebook and other platforms, people
who are known to support the asylum
seekers have been threatened with acid
attacks, petrol bombs and rape. The dossier.
which has been seen by the Guardian, also
claims that several local businesses have
been threatened by far-right agitators, along
with a church where some asylum seekers
worship. One man was punched in the throat
after he held up a "Love Thy Neighbour"
sign, while an elderly couple were falsely
accused of supporting sex offenders. In yet
another case, a 92-year-old church volunteer
was reportedly woken at 3am for two nights
in a row by a man standing outside her
home, shining a torch through her window
and shouting abuse

We can't even get these corporations and billionaires to pay *basic* taxes. The idea that they're going to start paying enough in tax for us all to be given sufficient UBI for a nice life pursuing our hobbies is a fantasy. It's far more likely that a lot of people are just going to starve.

Just tax the compute. Datacentre? Cool. Fund your own power generation and water reservoirs, and then pay tax for every computational act your datacentre does. And we'll use the tax income to offset societal and job damage. Overnight, AI becomes something AI giants are desperate to restrict.

It doesn't mean anything. Today, someone will adjust its data package and tomorrow it will say something different. Promoting the AIs when they get something right, encourages people to think the machine is factual and objective. It's a database. It "knows" whats been inputted.

This reminds me of the taliban destroying the buddha statutes at Bamiyan. Although this carving was even older. It is the attitude of someone who doesn't understand, or value, the thread of culture that binds us.
