Is Bluesky trying to shoot missiles at children and I missed it? Is Anthropic now just a smol bean corporate citizen or is it *checks notes* one of a few corporate owners of a technological superstructure that enables state capacities for violence and apportions social resources of citizenship?

Plans to allow PAs to see undifferentiated patients and expect resident doctors to supervise are irresponsible and poorly evidenced. Writing in the BMJ, our council chair @tomdolphin.bsky.social has set out the sorry story behind these baffling plans: www.bmj.com/content/395/...
Graphic featuring a quote from Dr Tom Dolphin, Chair of UK Council, BMA: “The public deserve to know how the front door of the health service is being remodelled.” The quote appears above a blurred hospital scene showing a patient in a hospital bed in the foreground and healthcare staff in the background.

Drives me absolutely nuts that the narrative is always doctors need more empathy, and not that we need to do a better job prosecuting predatory alternative medicine practitioners for fraud. As if the latter are just a fact of nature rather than a cynical corporate machine exploiting the vulnerable.

Dear tv and radio producers. Thankyou for the invitation. But, no, I do not want to appear on your show to defend the idea that I am English, after 50 years of living and working here, because the increasingly feral right want to turn this into a "debate" and you cannot see how you're being played

Aged care work is highly physical, and the staffing levels in most facilities are appalling already. I meet so many disability workers who fled aged care work because they were 1 staff member to 12 clients and couldn’t provide safe levels of care

It bothers me, too, that all of this requires entire fields of power, water-hungry machinery (but the water problem is overstated, I hear the smartest people in the room tell me often, a rejoinder that deadens my soul because if I learned tomorrow of a dickhead factory that used only a thimble of the stuff to churn out the most hideous fascist-adjacent text and imagery I should still want to burn it to the ground.

Biochemist Dr. Florence Seibert developed the Purified Protein Derivative in the 1930s that standardized tuberculosis testing worldwide by 1952. Before her work, TB skin tests were inconsistent/unreliable.It remains the basis for the TB skin test used today. Born #OTD in 1897. #WomenInSTEM
A vintage black-and-white studio portrait features biochemist Dr. Florence Seibert (1900–1991), famed for developing the Purified Protein Derivative (PPD) that standardized tuberculosis testing worldwide. Captured from the chest up, she poses in a three-quarter turn while looking directly at the camera with a subtle, intelligent smile, establishing a serene, professional, and historically significant mood. Her dark hair is styled in a classic 1920s short bob featuring prominent finger waves framing her forehead. She wears delicate, rimless spectacles and a light-colored blouse designed with a prominent collar and soft ruffled detailing along the edges. The composition employs soft-focus lighting typical of early 20th-century photography, casting gentle highlights across her face against a smooth, dark, non-descript studio backdrop. In the bottom right corner, a faint, embossed photographer's stamp adds an authentic period touch to this archival image celebrating a foundational figure in medicine.

In all seriousness, as I wrote last year, with the election win of Zohran Mamdani, anti-Muslim hate and Islamophobia is skyrocketing. If you’ve turned on your television or seen any political ads from the right, you have no doubt heard about the “dangers” of “Shariah Law.” Apparently, it is taking over, will enslave us all, and pretty soon we’ll be the United States of Islamerica. (Came up with that on my own, you’re welcome).

Hello Bone Colleagues,
I have invented a new type of ankle and I'm very excited to show it to you. Early raccoon trials suggest a 60% increase in scurrying speed and dramatic increases in fine motor banditry. I know we are not supposed to create super raccoons, but I think you'll change your mind and professional ethics when you see how cute they are. I believe we are on the cusp of a new era in advanced human scurrying because if medical science has taught me anything, it's that improvements in raccoons correspond 1:1 to improvements in humans.
