Wow, we have a LOT of endorsed candidates this year! 35 to be exact, plus 2 initiative campaigns: @no645.bsky.social & @nohateinwastate.bsky.social That number is high because there are so many races this year where we can flip a GOP seat blue or replace a conservative dem with a progressive!

The surge in patent applications for surveillance pricing technology makes me wonder - in what market do companies think they are going to enforce patent rights to techniques that are so incredibly unpopular without costing themselves more in customer loss and goodwill than they can gain?

I picked up “Careless People” and the new “Don’t Be Evil” at airports and I’m in the middle of an absolute binge. In the latter and can’t put it down. There’s a generation of literature from survivors of big tech, especially women, coming out now. Each story is unique but similar and horrifying.

There was a very real and very documented effort by the far-right to encapsulate all of Democrats’ awareness of and efforts against systemic injustice, scientific illiteracy, and abuse as “Woke” and to make it a pejorative for no other reason than to sabotage progressive politics.

OK I've read deeper into Dreher Campaign Stealing Signs-Gate and I'm even more disappointed. What a stupid, stupid thing to do. First up, does anyone believe that Dreher's campaign staff didn't steal these signs? Hundreds of them? Allegedly on film and reported to the police and PDC?

Jams @jams.bsky.social · 03/08/2026
Sign theft is petty and unlawful. I don't know if I believe Dreher's denial, but the only appropriate response is to *urge your supporters not to steal signs.* Vote Ron Davis. He doesn't steal yard signs.

Vote today, Seattle. The race I'm watching most closely is @ronpdavis.bsky.social in the 46th LD. Vote for Ron Davis, please. This was going to be progressive Davis vs. establishment Pollet, which was already important, but it got more crucial with the surprise entry of the opportunist Dreher.

83% of Will Dreher's campaign money is from out of state, much of it from employees of OpenAI & Anthropic, & he has a grand total of *20 donors* in his district. Totally normal, not at all sus, I'm sure it's fine. But you might wanna go ahead and choose @ronpdavis.bsky.social for the 46th LD anyways
WILL DREHER: My opponent is running a nasty smear campaign
SOME GUY: Wow, what’s he saying?
DREHER: That I signed a letter endorsing Brett Kavanaugh's nomination, and that I'm bankrolled by AI money
GUY: ...and? Is it true?
DREHER: Well now see but you have to understand the context
GUY: Hm

First, this is a thread worth reading, and I agree. Second, I want to point out that Dreher’s supposed strength, “AI regulation,” is really Ron Davis’s. If you want a lawyer-technologist who advocates for the humans, Ron has the superior academic, professional, and political qualifications.

The WA disclosures are out for May, and in the 46th, housing champion & progressive challenger @ronpdavis.bsky.social is outraising both his opponents by more than 2x among Seattle residents! The NIMBY incumbent is far behind, and another challenger is funded overwhelmingly by out of state dollars.
Ron Davis: Seattle $84032, non-Seattle $10800, non-WA $10525
Gerry Pollet: Seattle $33892, non-Seattle $22278, non-WA $9175
Will Dreher: Seattle $29450, non-Seattle $5280, non-WA $197078

I’ve converted from “maybe I could like Will Dreher personally but I support Ron Davis for office,” to “Will is too careless for his bar card, let alone elected office.” So now I’m mad. What is Will even doing with all this Anthropic and Jones Day money if not paying folks to do accurate research?

Traffic deaths are a preventable policy failure. It's not even that expensive to drastically reduce them in cities. It's time for our state to set standards--starting with intersections and speed limits, that can cut down on this unnecessary suffering and death. www.youtube.com/watch?v=tMBR...

Will Dreher is outraising Ron Davis about 3:1 overall in the 46th LD primary. But Ron is outraising Will about 2:1 among Washington State donors. So where's the rest of Will's money coming from? Thread.
Bar chart showing WA, CA, and OTHER STATE portions of Will Dreher's and Ron Davis's fundraising as of June 2026. Data shows that the majority of Will Dreher's fundraising comes from out of state, and that the vast majority of Ron Davis's funding comes from within state. Total fundraising favors Dreher 3:1. Washington-only fundraising favors Davis 2:1.

(Figuratively) two dog sleds and NATO, including the US. Telling it like it is, this is just betrayal. Attacking an ally. Someone we've promised mutual defense for generations. Dante's Satan will need a fourth head. Then I remember MAGA is circulating a conspiracy theory that NATO doesn't exist.

The only thing dumber than Musk's proposed $1T package is the punditry calling it a good deal because it's "all or nothing." Under such a structure, the (perverse) incentive is to fail and avoid the $1T hit, and the recipient earns no benefit for overperformance and no comp for getting close.

The spread on Seattle City Atty is telling. Erika is over 50% in a four way primary as one of three progressive challengers. She is going to pick up Nathan and Rory's voters and wreck Ann by 20+ points.

At a press conference at City Hall this morning, the Working Families Party and PROTEC17—the largest union of City of Seattle workers—endorsed Katie Wilson for mayor. The city union's endorsement is especially monumental because for most of these workers, incumbent Bruce Harrell is their boss.

The real question is whether Elmo accusing her of "breaking the law" is merely defamatory or defamation per se. Any conlaw heads want to tell me if the accusation that someone's committing a crime needs to be of committing a specific crime?

Every Democrat from Maine to Hawaii tried to explain to their Republican relatives that Trump and his circle actually held them in contempt for years. It's not even January and his new advisors / owners just... tweeted out that they think Americans are too dumb and lazy for the "good" jobs.

This. For BSky to remain a tolerant platform, it has to excise intolerance like a tumor. Yes, this is a known paradox; and yes, this is the known solution. It's also good business because the popularity of this space is tied directly to how much of a dumpster fire it *isn't.*

Anytime I'm at a hospital, I see all kinds of familiar gadgets from my time patent-drafting at KTS and I realize that I remember most if not every single one of near a thousand cases. This is why I have hundreds of weirdly deep pockets of knowledge yet barely remember names or basic trivia.

At the airport today, one lady's lack of a functional power outlet nearby led to about a dozen strangers doing an impromptu treasure hunt for working power. Final count - about 6 of the 20 outlets within sight are working.
