I-001 repeals existing laws that ensure parents are informed when their child needs them most. Join Senator John Lovick and hundreds of elected officials, educators, counselors, domestic violence experts, doctors, and community groups in voting NO on I-001 when your ballot arrives.
A photo shows Senator John Lovick, a Black man with glasses, wearing a gray suit and speaking into a microphone. On top of the image, a text box quotes his op-ed from the Everett Herald. The headline reads: Lovick: Why this former sheriff is voting no on I-001. His attribution reads: Sen. John Lovick, Mill Creek, WA. The quote reads: “I urge voters to get the facts and reject this dangerous measure that would put thousands of vulnerable young people at greater risk of harm.”

I-638 discriminates against girls and puts them at risk of harm. Over 100 WA pediatricians, family doctors and nurses say I-638’s new sex inspection requirements will force them to conduct medically unnecessary and potentially harmful tests on girls. Vote NO on I-638 when your ballot arrives.
A screenshot of a news article from KOMO News is on a pale orange background. The header image is a high school girls soccer team huddling on the field in sky blue uniforms. The article’s headline states: What’s at stake: voters to decide on girls’ sports issue this November. The excerpt from the article reads: "We're putting the burden on girls (who want to play sports) as a justification for this witch-hunt to find trans girls who want to play sports with their friends," she said. "It's really incredibly unfair." In fact, Hipp said she does not believe that this initiative is about girls' safety at all.“ A dark orange footer says “Vote No on I-638.”

Daniel, a Seattle school librarian, knows how important it is for students to have access to safe spaces to express themselves. If I-001 passes, those safe spaces will become compromised with the removal of common sense school records protections. Vote NO on I-001 this November. #NoHateWAState

Multiple Washingtonians told @TheCut.com how frustrated they are with I-638, a harmful initiative on the November ballot: "“I haven’t met a single person who has thought this was a good initiative." "This measure is rooted in such hate." “It’s not reflective of who we are." #NoHateWAState
A screenshot of an article from The Cut/New York Magazine is on a dark purple background. The article’s header image shows a posterboard that is half light blue and half light pink, with a drawing of a soccer ball. The poster says “let all kids dream, i’ll play with you!” Under the image, the article headline is: “The campaign to force genital exams on girl athletes. Soon Washington State could require sex-verification tests for those playing sports in schools.” Under the headline, a featured excerpt reads: “Voters I spoke to, like Maria and Watson, are frustrated that this type of attack is coming to Washington of all places, a state with a track record as one of the most progressive in the country when it comes to LGBTQ+ rights. “It’s not reflective of who we are.””A white text box on top of a purple-filtered image of a school basketball court reads: Lauren Hipp, mother and national director of MomsRising, tells New York Magazine: “This is a witch hunt to find the five-to-ten trans girls who just want to play a sport they love with their friends and their community. This is absolutely not about girls’ safety. If they were interested in keeping girls safe, they wouldn’t have men like Brian Heywood forcing themselves into my daughters’ exam rooms.”A white text box on top of a purple-filtered image of a school basketball court reads: Paul, a high-school wrestling coach, tells New York Magazine: “This whole ballot initiative is a waste of everyone’s time. It’s just people trying to push an agenda that I don’t think helps any kids. Asking [students] to comply with even more invasive procedures is disgusting to me, quite honestly.”

Two initiatives on the November ballot will put our kids in danger. I-001 forces teachers to out LGBTQ+ kids to unsupportive parents. I-638 puts girls who want to play sports at greater risk of harm by requiring genital inspections. Say NO to hate. Vote NO on I-001 & I-638. #NoHateWAState

Did you know 40% of LGBTQ+ homeless youth were kicked out of their homes because of their identities? Now imagine how much worse that would be under I-001, when LGBTQ+ kids will be outed to unsupportive families. Take a stand against hate. Vote NO on I-001 this November. #NoHateWAState

An initiative on the ballot in Washington state in November would require all athletes seeking to play girl's sports from kindergarten to high school to undergo "genetic screening, a testosterone-levels test, or an examination of their reproductive anatomy" before they can play
The Campaign to Force Genital Exams on Girl Athletes Soon Washington State could require sex-verification tests for those playing sports in schools.

By Andrea González-Ramírez, a senior writer for The Cut who covers systems of power. Those physicals, Maria explains, are usually perfunctory: “Like, Are you walking normally? Are you lightheaded? I have never had to take any clothes off. I’ve never felt uncomfortable or violated.” If IL26-638 were to pass and Maria were still in school, she says she would likely drop out of her team. (We’re withholding Maria’s real name to protect her privacy.) “I honestly don’t know if I would be able to do these tests,” she adds. “It would also make me question, If I do it, are all my teammates going to too? Or would I just play with the three or four girls who are willing to or have access to do it?”

“This is absolutely not about girls’ safety,” a critic said. The Republican mega donor behind this horrific initiative, Brian Heywood, she said, is “forcing himself into my daughters’ exam room.”🧵

Did you know ballot initiative I-638 is the most extreme MAGA measure of its kind in the nation? It will force all girls to undergo invasive and potentially harmful exams of their “reproductive organs" in order to play school sports. We must VOTE NO on I-638 this November. #NoHateWAState
A screenshot of a news article is on a light purple background. The article is from LGBTQ Nation. The headline is: Girls will be forced to undergo vaginal inspections if voters approve anti-trans sports measure. The excerpt from the article says: Voters in Washington state could approve an anti-transgender law, Initiative Measure No. IL26-638, which would require girl student-athletes statewide to confirm their “biological sex” with genital inspections just to play sports. Opponents of the initiative say it’s invasive, could block poorer students from getting verified, and could meet pushback from medical professionals who refuse to comply.” Under the screenshot, a dark purple footer reads “Vote No On I-638”

An incredible victory out of Tacoma this week! 🎉 "Voters can protect kids from danger by joining us in opposing these poorly-written and harmful initiatives," Councilmember Olgy Diaz said.

Swipe to read more.Screenshot of the press release reads: Councilmember Olgy Diaz explained why the Council took action: “I-001 removes common sense counseling and social work record protections for victims of child abuse, putting them in more danger. I-638 puts girls who want to play sports at greater risk of harm by requiring medical sex verification, including possible invasive genital inspections. Both initiatives are aimed at dividing our communities and distracting us from real issues like affordability.” Swipe to read more.Screenshot of the press release reads: Councilmember Olgy Diaz continued: “We are encouraging community members to vote no on I-001 and I-638 to protect schools as safe places for youth to disclose abuse, and to protect the right of all girls to play sports without the barriers and risks of invasive genital exams or expensive genetic testing. Initiative supporters are playing politics with our kids, but voters can protect kids from danger by joining us in opposing these poorly-written and harmful initiatives.” Swipe to read more.
