Ok, it's too hot. The cat is too hot and is trying to sleep in unusual places sandwiched against the skirting board (are skirting boards a natural cat coolant?) I want ice cream but managed to give myself a coffee headache rendering myself unmotivated to leave the house. It's all going well here.

So I think I’ve reached my limit with Blue Prince. I would have to transcend to another level consciousness to conquer the final puzzles by myself. It’s become more fun to sit with my partner while she plays and work together. She’s already transcended and returned to this plain of reality.

My son works for this company here in the U.K. It was playing the video game ‘Deus Ex’ that set him on the path to becoming a Biomechanical Engineer. Sometimes, it’s nice to highlight the good things that video games can do. And also remind myself just how proud of him I am.

We’ve been watching 90s Star Trek in story order. Other than few stops by DS9, we’ve just finished TNG. I’d forgotten how fantastic the finale All Good Things… is. Brilliantly written, acted and a noticeable step up in direction. We’ll miss Mr Picard and team until we hit the first film.

Panel 2: Potato Guy arrives at his front door, looks directly at reader and says “I’m A Artist.

Timeline cleanse: here’s Panko inspecting the pile of books on my desk. She’s approves. I think.
A tiny cat called Panko who is black and white and ginger and grey and looks like she’s wearing eyeliner. She’s standing over a pile of hardback books wondering what she might read. Hours after this was taken, Panko had to go to the vets for her first ever checkup. She was a very good girl and even turned into a catloaf on the vets table. She was rewarded with cat biscuits and a big cuddle. She a good girl.

I’m really enjoying Severance season 2 but I’m feeling quite disconnected from the story. Season one was SO tight and simple (to an extent) and funny. Maybe it’s the week-by-week viewing. Maybe it’s opened the world up too much too quickly. Maybe the characters are lacking any real focused goal.

A friend included this anti-acknowledgement section on her PhD thesis. She also added the proposition: “Systematic bullying and undermining of girls and women in STEM starts early on and is the reason why they do not stay in science and related fields.” Absurd we still need to go through this 🧪👩‍🔬
There have been people less than helpful in my journey here. I wanted to acknowledge those too, bc I know I am not unique in this experience.
No thank you to the physics study assoc that made me sing songs about how women couldn't study physics without sleeping with the professor, the day I stepped into university life. No thank you to the 5th year physics student that decided to assign me a stripper name within the first minute of meeting me in the physics coffee corner in my first year. No thank you to the technician that was responsible for onboarding me on the use of the cluster in my third year who raised his eyebrows and asked me if that meant I was some sort of computer girl. No thank you to the senior researcher that sent me utterly inappropriate texts after a conference, then proceeded to apologise months later by telling me they had not been meant for me anyway so no hard feelings remain hopefully And no thank you to him for attending every conference I've been to since. No thank you to the people who told me that it was surprising that I was doing a PhD since I was a girl. No thank you to the man who mistook me for a coffee lady at a conference, and after having to correct him two times that I did not work there, responded with you should consider it. No thank you to the researcher that asked me what I was wearing underneath my outfit during a conference. No thank you to the physicist who declared to a room full of other physicists that biologists don't know how to design an experiment. No thank you to the people who have called me scary instead of strong and intimidating instead of intelligent.
And finally, no thank you to the exec board of the TU Delft, whose knee-jerk reaction to being held up a mirror about the social safety at the university, was to sue the party holding up the mirror instead of looking at the problems they highlighted.
... You have made me feel like I do not belong in science & I cannot forgive you for that.

I did a clown workshop recently where we did a lot of work with neutrality - if you try to express very little with your face the audience will create their own narrative from the subtle things they see about you. And because they figured it out, they feel emotionally attached to that interpretation

Panko is majestic af.
A photo of a tiny kitty cat in a wicker basket. She’s lying on her back with her silly rabbit-like feet in the air. Her head is upside down and she’s looking at the camera like she’s the most normal thing in the world and not the tiny monster horse that gallops about the house.

Found this book in a vintage store today. The title and the expression of the man feels very apt for 2025.
The book cover for Exit Humanity by Leo Brett. It depicts a giant spaceship and the face of a man who looks well fed up and like he’d rather be at home with a cuppa, the curtains closed, just exhaling a sigh so long his soul might leave his body.
