Disagree. He is trying to grapple with the real world and it is quite clearly true that free movement does allow people to come and go while earning settled status encourages staying. Yes there are uncomfortable nuances, they are going to be difficult to escape.

Which means 6 in 7 do not and many of them are more progressive than previous generations. Also, “white nationalism” might be a “phase” for some/many in this generation in the sense that “skinhead” was in a previous generation. Obviously, 1 in 7 is a concern. But it is no reason for moral panic.

For all the talk of AfD gains in rural Niedersachsen, this candidate was re-elected with 90% of the vote in Hessisch Oldendorf. Goes to show that we need to pay attention to the 70-75% anti-AfD vote in small towns and farming communities in North Germany as much as the 20-25% of AfD voters

Sweden's Social Democrats on target to get 99 seats in parliament (out of 349). That's their worst result since 1928. In March, Denmark's Social Democrats had their worst election result since 1903. What to they have in common? Mimicking "hard line" right-wing policies. It's a recipe for disaster.
