The "Pete&MJ4eva" fans can be infuriating. But, at least there's no clear line from complaining on message boards and social media to fascism.

The BBC really at terrible at headlines lately. This makes it sound like a tiger escaped and went on the rampage, when in fact a man climbed into its enclosure and the inevitable ensued.

I did mistake the format, short films, as part of the character name. Nobody wants to play 6 different characters with the description of "short" in their name.

Mr Daradan has also played “Older man in lederhosen” and I fear he’s going to end up typecast.

And, I could have done without the trip down memory lane to comics fandom of the 90s and early 00s. Because the bring back Hal campaign led directly to the toxicity of Comicsgate. And to the modern online right wing grift machine.

I've read enough Tom King comics to know that Lanterns is a Tom King story. And the thing is that Tom King doesn't give a shit about continuity unless it helps him. Honestly Hal Jordan is coming out of this better than Captain Atom, Adam Strange or poor poor Wally West.

Fun fact: in WW2 so many pilots flew under the Severn Railway Bridge that RAF police were eventually deployed there to take registrations as they went past.

Apparently, it's the 60th anniversary of the first appearance of the Cybermen, which means that it's very close to the 60th anniversary of the first regeneration on Dr Who. Anyway, Cybermen were the monsters my Mum was scared of as a girl. This didn't encourage me to love them at all.🙄

* footnote and clarification, the only land combat with enemy forces. The battle of Bamber Bridge is it's own shitshow.

James Hodden @jameshodden.bsky.social · 17h
The only land combat on the UK mainland during WW2 was the battle of Graveney Marshes, when the crew of a German bomber had a brief shoot out with an anti aircraft gun crew who just wanted to take them back to the pub. They soon surrendered.

Maybe it's the endorphin high of having just watched the movie, but Brand New Day was great. It's saved Spider-man on film and is a real step up from the last one. Also, the web swinging and action sequences are as much a love letter to the computer game as to the comics.

Finished a Churchill tank, marked up for the North Irish Horse for the Gothic line battles. By this point the British camo had shifted from the khaki and black to a standard green, so it differs from Shermans. It’s a glorious tank!

Brian Blessed’s birthday is an excuse to share one of the greatest paragraphs in any memoir ever.
A paragraph from Brian Blessed’s autobiography:

So the first time I ever came into contact with O'Toole was at one of these student gatherings.
I remember it well because I'd just punched Harold Pinter down a flight of stairs.
