German union Verdi has called for an immediate, previously unannounced strike of ground handling staff at Hamburg Airport. The airport remains closed today (Sunday, March 9). This is in addition to the nationwide airport strike on Monday, March 10.

Deutsche Post: Raises postage on international postcards from 0.95€ to 1.25€. Also Deutsche Post: Doesn't make any stamps for 1.25€. This is what postage on my cards to the US looks like now, taking up a third of the entire postcard. 🤦‍♂️

Available @flightradar24.com data for the Jeju Air flight shows an approach from south to north. The crash happened when the airplane was landing north to south. The lighting barrier is at the south end of Muan International.

I will post current news, if its crazy enough.. yesterday, a Cessna 340A, experiencing engine issues on approach to Muskogee-Davis Regional Airport, had an intimate unscheduled encounter with a static T-33 mounted on a pole! (only minor (human) injuries) (asn.flightsafety.org/wikibase/463...)

Flight operations at Montreal Mirabel Airport were affected following an emergency landing of a Nolinor Boeing 737-400. Airline statement on the incident:

Statement reads: "Nolinor Aviation would like to provide an update regarding the incident that occurred during the landing of flight NRL 662 at Mirabel International Airport (YMX) at approximately 11:22 AM today. The aircraft involved is a Boeing 737-400, registered C-GGWX.
We confirm that all 87 passengers onboard, as well as the crew, are safe and unharmed; there are no injuries. Emergency services responded promptly, and the situation is now under control.
We would like to thank our passengers for their calmness and cooperation, as well as the emergency services for their efficient response.
An investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the incident. We are fully cooperating with the relevant authorities.
We extend our gratitude to our passengers, partners, and the community for their continued support."
