Rate changes (up or down) aren’t in of themselves bad, but just aim to achieve a policy goal—-the key tradeoff being growth v. inflation. That said, the Trump admin has been actively pressuring the Fed to cut rates to boost growth. You could say they’re an interested party.

Just received this statement from Lisa Cook: "President Trump purported to fire me 'for cause' when no cause exists under the law, and he has no authority to do so. I will not resign. I will continue to carry out my duties to help the American economy as I have been doing since 2022."

Do you have strong opinions RE prose versus rhyming translations? I just read Fagle’s Iliad and I couldn’t help but think how it’d be so much more engaging in a rhyming version, more like the context of how it used to be told.

Incredible. Roland Reisley is 101 years old, the last original client of Frank Lloyd Wright. He still lives in the 3,200 square foot home that Wright built for him in 1952. The price? $40,000. Or a little less than half a million in today's money.
A man standing on what appears to be a balcony of his home. The man's living room. There's a couch, coffee table, and foot stool, as well as some tall windows. Lots of wood. Another living space with a fireplace and bookshelf. Possibly a compression hallway leading to this room. The outside of the home.

🚨New working paper🚨 w/ @jeannebomare.bsky.social We use data leaked from the Isle of Man to understand how well international agreements meant to provide tax authorities with info on foreign accounts actually work We find that tax authorities probably receive a lot less than they would desire 🧵👇

If Beetle Moses has a million fans, then I am one of them. If Beetle Moses has ten fans, then I am one of them. If Beetle Moses has only one fan then that is me. If Beetle Moses has no fans, then that means I am no longer on earth. If the world is against Beetle Moses, then I am against the world.

The discourse around tariffs has been “things will get more expensive” but I am here to tell you that I am knee deep in reporting on this subject and I strongly suspect that if super high tariffs endure, it will shift to *certain items cease to be available at any price*

If you ever wondered how esoteric Gravity’s Rainbow could get:
The text from Gravity’s Rainbow Companion by Weisenburger reads “The connection Hayles suggests is thus tenuous: wholly reliant upon the reader’s misreading ‘Schwarzschild’ as ‘Schwarzchild’.”
